Yep. When Tennessee is at it's best, the teams are full of Georgia players, North Carolina players, some West Virginia players, etc along with some select players from in state.

We were making some inroads in Ohio for a while. I was going to say that I would like to see that pipeline reopened, but for better or for worse, many Ohioans are making their way southward these days.

Did Georgia not offer? Bad mistake Kirby
he had a legit UGA offer, but i'm not sure how high he was on their board.

the real competition for him was with Alabama and USCe. he had offers from all the names you'd recognize though. but it was a 3 team race in the end.

This is great BUT look at the one's ahead of us. They are our opponents in the S.E.C. If we are the 5th best recruiting class in the S.E.C. and our opponents are ahead of us, we may never catch our opponents............
Honestly once you get to a certain point, we is "best" in that year's class is not that big of a difference. Someone has to be named the top, but as long as your class addresses your needs, I won't complain if we're ranked in the top 5 or 10.

you gotta start somewhere, and when teams like Bama and UGA are that far ahead of you form a talent standpoint, it really doesn't matter if you have the #1 class in a single year or not. they're already ahead, we're playing catch up.

recruiting at a top 10 level right now wont' gurantee anything, except that we'd seemingly have the horses to compete with teams like that.

and considering the result of both of those games last year..............................................it's a step in the right direction.

another thing to consider about this current class....while i'll be the first one to tell you some bigger fish have gone elsewhere, i really don't recall not getting a guy that a)seemed like a realistic get and b) was someone we really wanted.

i think there's 2 or 3 guys we'd like to really get back in on, Hampton, Norton to name a couple. but in most cases, we're getting guys we really put targets on. dont get me wrong, i'm not saying 100% of the time. but i don't get the impressiong that we're having to settle for a bunch of back up plans either. this is going to be a good class no matter where it winds up ranking wise. and will be a good foundation to build off of going forward.

and it's not over yet with guys like crouch and wright still out there, and in good shape with.....could wind up with 3 5*'s when all is said and done.

Georgia has swiped 2 big linemen from us, but we got Morris and several skill players from the peach state.
they can keep signing top 20 kids from TN and we'll keep signing top 20 kids from GA. and we'll see who winds up better int he long run.

still love Tennessee and all. but on numbers alone, i'll make that trade just about every year.
