I have always thought that Jennings' career hit all the beats that you read about in college football.
He was a highly ranked recruit and went through all that fanfare of committing.
He got in a fight before ever arriving on campus and people worried that it could affect his status on the team.
He was a special teams spark, and people began to love his gritty style of play.
He played with an edge and he became the player that sometimes got you penalized, but the trade off was worth it.
He made an all-time play.
He had a season where he was incredibly clutch, and displayed toughness while also becoming a hero.
He lost a season to injury.
He could have come back, but the coaches refused.
He got kicked off the team after one of the greatest video tirades ever.
He got the redemption arc to earn his way back on the team.
He had a final season where he put it all together to become the heart and soul of the team.
It's hard to imagine a player will soon embody all of those things to a fanbase, all while genuinely giving off the air that he loves UT in the same way as the multi-degree alumnus and the fan that never had a shot to darken the school's doors. JJ will always be one of us.
