Jarvis Giles

My facts straight? Funny because it came from the mouth of HIS father.

Well hello, Jarvis Giles' dad, its nice of you to stop by Volnation!

Of course it came from his father, that's an easy cover up - because he knew his son's story didn't make any sense from the beginning and made him look like a liar (the fact he said he'll follow Drayton where he goes)... how all he cared about was if Drayton was kept.. and then he was kept but I opted not to go to Tennessee. You're not a Vols fan so gtfo or change your user name.

I never said he wasn't affected by Fulmer's departure - but he stated from the beginning it was all about Drayton.

Look I never claimed to be a Vol, go back and read the last couple of pages. I went to school in that area, have a mentor as a coach that was an All American at UT, am connected to Jarvis's high school program, hell I used to work concession at Neyland, so I don't have anything against the Vols I just hate people slamming these frickin' KIDS when they're trying to make one of the most difficult decisions of their lives. Jarvis was devistated whem Fulmer was fired, how do I know, because I talked to him. He was VERY confused in the weeks after and wasn't sure what to do. I don't know how he flip flopped as you call it. Now, had Fulmer still been there and Drayton was guaranteed a job ( which at this point he's not ) and Jarvis did this then I could see people being upset. You all as fans have to understand that these decisions are EXTREMELY tough for these kids and yes sometimes they jump the gun a bit and committ when it's probably not in their best interest. These kids are heaped tons of praise from recruiters and given the royal treatment when they visit these schools and with a lot of them it's the first time they've been away from home let alone had a red carpet rolled out for them.

And now the truth comes out. You're a tool. Stop posting on the board - you obviously have connection to the kid - just like parents/players - you shouldn't get emotionally involved on message boards. The kid is loving the drama and attention from all this whether you want to admit it or not. You're emotionally involved - you lost all credibility due to that fact - fair or not.

Very classy remarks you edited out as well buddy.

And I'm the tool because I know what has happened and how it has happened. I guess you don't understand a couple of things. He and Drayton were close, no doubt and he did say that about Drayton, however what you fail to understand is that when he made his decision a couple of weeks ago Drayton was not guaranteed a spot on the staff. There was still an evaluation process that was going to happen to determine if he was staying. Being an early enrollee Jarvis could not sit around and wait on this decision to be made. Believe what you want to believe, but don't discount truth, BUDDY.

If Giles was truly basing is decision on whether or not one single coach was on staff, then maybe he isn't ready to play at this level. You need a maturity about you that extends off the football field. And he apparently doesn't have it yet. Best of luck to him whatever path he choses.

Isn't this thread dead yet?

I have harbor no ill will toward the young man, but I do hope to see the 'cocks get stomped in Tampa in a couple of weeks!

Reaves pushes Giles to USC | GoGamecocks

You would think giles would listen to Reaves. I think he has been at SC and with Spurrier long enough to know what he is talking about. To me the man just seems to want to win, and is being realistic. Even though it is a tad arrogant. But I also do not see SC having any REAL success in the coming years.

Oh no - not more talk about Jarvis "big show" Giles.

It's not arrogant or "negative recruiting" when its 100% true. He was just looking for a lame excuse to switch his commit to USCe and not look dumb doing it.

How in the hell did Giles become the #4 RB prospect in the nation?

He has long hair. Everyone knows you can't have long hair, and be a good football player. :eek:hmy:

I don't care what comes out of his helmet. It's what comes out of his mouth I don't like. He makes it up as he goes, and tells his tale depending on who he's talking to. That will eventually catch up to him, and I'm glad it's gonna happen at a place other than UT.

This kid just loves to hear himself talk.

When he gets introduced to SEC defenses and Eric Berry in particular, he will learn that talk is very cheap.

I will no longer post about this "me-first" kid.

I'll take Hardesty, Poole, Creer, Oku, and Williams over this kid.

Can we eliminate any more threads about this loud mouthed Cock?

You guys need to go look a photos of our recruits in the recruiting forums before you go on a scalp the dreads rampage. I say bring the dreads on!

I would bet the house he never wins a championship at USCe. Reaves was just being honest. How is that negative?

It's only negative if you are a SC fan and have your heart set on going to school there.

What do you call REAL success. How about 27-6....I think that is a measure of success. You guys were drooling at the mouth about Giles until he committed to us. I would think he had as good a chance NOW at USC as he would at Tennessee at winning a championship. We played below our talent this year and still ended up in Tampa Bay so we must be doing something right. All we need is a QB and we will be ready to roll. Here's hoping that Garcia is that man. Spurrier is a Tennessee guy that got turned away. He could have been yours and if the timing had been right I believe he would have coached you guys.

Nobody is ripping the kid. He's a great player and I wish him good luck. It's just completely lame to pretend that a benign comment like what Reaves' said was so offensive that it made up his mind for him.

No sir, our record vs USCe is 21-4-2 NOT 27-6!!! Ohhhhh, you were quoting the 2008 game..... I forgot that, as a Cock, you take tremendous pride in the little things since you have NEVER sniffed a Football Championship in the HISTORY OF EARTH!!!

SOUTH CAROLINA (21-4-2)
at Knoxville: 13-1
at Columbia: 8-3-2
Biggest Win: 54 points (54-0; 1929 in Knoxville)
Biggest Loss: 24 points (24-0; 1903 in Columbia)
Longest Winning Streak: 12 games (1993-2004)
Longest Losing Streak: 1 game (multiple times)

University of Tennessee Default Official Athletic Site Streak: South Carolina 1 game

Lol another Cock. I can just picture the load that USCe fans blew when they finally put a W in the column against UT this year. Enjoy it, you'll have to tell your grandkids about it someday because Rocky Top is back.
