Jarvis Giles

you guys really should have seen this coming. You didn't actually think the boy wanted to wear orange did you?

Go away before you get crushed. Esp. if you are a USClite fan. They tend to look pretty stupid at the end of the day after posting here. Ask ihateorange.

Ok...so he chose South Carolina. Let's move on.

However, do not be fooled. He was a recruit that UT wanted. I mean after all they did send the house to meet with him: Drayton, Reaves, Hamilton and Kiffin. And he was Kiffin's first recruiting call for UT - Kiffin thought of him as a Reggie Bush clone. He would have been a big part of this offense even with those in front of him.

He was an important recruit - but you can't win them all.

On to the next one...

You don't like losing recruiting battles - particularly to teams you play every year and guys that you had a commitment from at one time. I wish that we had landed Giles, but you're right - we didn't and its done. I hope that Kiffin finds his feature back in Oku...or a soon-to-be-found recruit and we get this ball rolling.

Williams is not ranked ahead of Giles.

Neither is Thigpen for that matter.

Stars mean nothing!!!!!
But...based on scout.com

Oku #6 rb
Williams #30 rb
Thigpen # 34 rb
GILES #35 rb

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 6, 30, and 34 are less than 35???? If that is wrong, I stand corrected!

He's right technically on one part... Giles is listed as an athlete...the #2 athlete behind Oku - but he will likely be playing RB... but he will also compete to return kicks and stuff... he's behind in the 'RB' position.

Thank you bassmanbruno...I stand corrected on that!

BUT!!!!!! UT does not need "athletes"....they need "players"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Giles is not a wr. He is a RB. UT has several that are better than him.

Well everyone knows scout is crap for football recruiting.

check out Rivals for more accurate info.

The only thing that upsets me about this is that Spurrier got a top 5 RB. I would have much rather seen the guy at Nebraska. I hope he does well nonetheless(except in the UT game).

Like I said before, this just means Kiffin's defense gets to unload on him. I hope Giles gets the rock with Berry locked in on him.

This saga may not be over ...he hasn't enrolled anywhere yet....one thing is for sure, he has no interest in playing for championships. I wish him the best, hope he makes it on the field in Knoxville in '09 and gets a Big Orange awakening from one Mr. Berry.

Go Vols!!!!!

:td:

your correct...scout guys are in middle school and rivals guys are MIT grads!!!! I forgot that. Their #'s are so far off from each other. :worship:

Leave before you get trampled.

No.

Don't worry we have the guy ranked ahead of him.

Sour grapes already? You guys sure negatively recruited him there towards the end.

We just thought he wanted to go somewhere to win something...unlike anything South Carolina has ever done.

Speaking of winning, where did UT land in the conference this year?

Couldn't feel nearly as bad as your 2008 season.

27-6 :dance2:

Wow! Nice to be living off of a great 7-5 season. George Rogers and "Sunshine" Ron Bass (remember the Titans qb) are not walking thru the door anytime soon. Live it up now.....times are changing on the Hill!

The 6-foot, 185-pounder from Gaither High School in Tampa, Fla., said he was also concerned that Kiffin was taking too long to commit to retaining running backs coach Stan Drayton on UT’s reassembled staff.

“For them to say they’re still evaluating him,” Giles said, “that’s a no brainer (to bring him back).”

Certainly doesn't look good for Drayton. Anyways good luck to Giles. Would've been nice to have his speed and if he's the player I think he is, he'll still be good at USCe.

Well - hopefully Kiffin will atleast get rid of Drayton now.

When I first joined this site people couldn't say enough about Drayton's recruiting skills. Now he doesn't deserve to stay because of one recruit? Makes no sense. (not saying that you were for Drayton at any point Bassmanbruno, just that alot of people said that he should be gone since Giles has announced)
