I hope Spurrier was generous enough to show Jarvis the trophy case there at South Carolina. That 1969 ACC championship, though a little rusty, has to impress the hell out of blue-chip recruits.

Man...you really are taking your shots while you have the chance aren't you...

News flash chief...we won the East last year...which is one more time than your school has ever won it...all you have to hang your hat on is the 8 wins you're going to get this year which is the pretty much the best season you all have ever had even though it will end without any type of championship

And we've had a first round pick in each of the past 3 drafts including 2 in the 07' draft for a total of 10 this decade...repeat this decade, not the 90's...so if you're trying to pretend you're an informed fan you need to read up a little better before you come on here and act like you know what you're talking about...

Go ahead and eat it up...you all have had a better year than us...but keep in mind your saying that while we're going through the worst year we've ever had...so that's kind of like bragging that you out ran someone at the Special Olympics...

With the kind of money we're going to dish out we're going to get the best coach that's available...and that kind of coach will have us back at the top in a matter of a 2-3 years tops....

And if you think this is the start of an extended run your team is going to have against us then get real...your coach has 2 more years in him tops and then you all will go right back to being as irrelevant as you were before him...

And if you all do end up landing Giles then that's just fine....we have another RB that's rated higher than him who has stated he will wait until the next coach is named before making a final decision...and when that coach is the best coach available he will keep his commitment and you will end up with the RB that's playing second fiddle to Oku right now...

So congrats on your "impressive" victory over the worst team we've ever had....and congrats on your "enviable" 8-win season

So Oku is better and will have a better career just because Rivals ranked him ahead of Giles? Is that why Johnathan Crompton is better than Colt McCoy?

Ever heard of Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel....best avaliable coaches when they were hired, demanded the most money when they were hired, produced NC's or are on their way...

Obviously your never know what the results will be but I will bet you money that we get the best guy out there....no team that is currently looking for a coach offers the tradition, fanbase, facilities, and money that we will

And obviously Rivals ratings don't amount to sure fire success....but you're the one who came to our message board saying we're over and USCe is on its way up... bragging about possibly stealing a recruit from us and I was just pointing how lame that is considering that even in our worst year ever we will in all likelyhood finish ahead of USCe in recruiting...

And even if you manage to steal Giles we've got options that your sorry team would never have in the same situation

Still no guarentee in that. Look at Ron Zook at Florida, Miami still sucks with Shannon and I wouldnt say Michigan is on their way to a NC anytime soon.

Not at all. Am I missing something because I don't see anything at all with what I did. I think players love to get admiration from fans of their team and themselves. What would be wrong with letting him know that we've noticed his talents and would love for him to be a part of the UT family? That's like saying that you got a thank you card in the mail from someone and it made you mad so you called off your involvement with them in the future. Everyone loves to be wanted and unless you think that Vol fans don't want him to be a Vol, this type of gesture is not harmful. Don't you think that it can only help his decision to be a Vol by knowing that we are already getting involved in rooting for him. I just don't hear him saying" Coach Gruden, I've changed my mind about coming to UT and was just about to commit until I got an email from one of the Vol fans that encouraged me to come and admired my abilities and game. You really should think about discouraging that type of activity because no one likes it when a teams fans supports them and wants them to be a part of their team. I've chosen South Carolina and should be signing on the dotted line unless I run into one of their fans and he congratulates my decision and tells me that he's excited about seeing me on the field. If that happens then I will probably go somewhere else." see how silly it sounds to think that encouraging a player to be a part of your program deters him from coming to your school. Maybe you were just kidding with me. If you weren't, I'd like to know why you feel this way.

Your best weapon in the last 4 years against UT has been Phil Fulmer. Recent success aside (for the moment), South Carolina's presence in the SEC has been a welcome addition (pronounced "automatic win") for the SEC elite. Of which UT is not currently a member, and USC has never been. Good Lord, remember when you were the #2 team in the nation, and the Citadel beat you? In Columbia?

Not much has changed. You're better than you were, and you have Spurrier as your coach, but you will always be....sadly...South Carolina.

The history of "South Carolina football" will fit on one of those pamphlets you get at South of the Border.
