Jarvis Giles

Actually, meant will take visits, as opposed to backing out, but I hit the enter key by accident.

Gaither's Giles will take visits

With the departure of Tennessee football coach Phil Fulmer at the end of the season, Gaither senior running back and Volunteers commit Jarvis Giles is planning to make official visits to South Carolina, Ole Miss and Illinois, he said.

"I want to see who the coach ends up being," Giles said. "Right now, I'm pretty much open to anybody."

Giles said he will make an official visit to South Carolina this weekend. The Gamecocks recruited Giles hard before he gave Tennessee his oral commitment over the summer, and he said he developed a strong relationship with Gamecocks assistant coach and recruiting coordinator David Reaves.

"They've always been in the hunt," Giles said.

Current Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt also recruited Giles when he was head coach at Arkansas last year. Giles said his friend, former Hillsborough quarterback and current Illinois receiver Jarred Fayson, has gotten him interested in the Illini, who are coached by former Florida coach Ron Zook.

Giles isn't gone. If UT hits a homerun with this hire, he'll be a Vol.

And, if a coaching staff shakeup is giving him concern, it might be wise for him to avoid South Carolina. I wouldn't hold my breath on Spurrier completing 4 more seasons with the Gamecocks.

Good point JT...Spurrier is not used to being "average" and has had about enough. Every season he continues to coach at USC degrades his legacy.

Carolina will lose 4 or 5 games again this year. Spurrier won't be doing this much longer either.

UT recruit Jarvis Giles comments on Fulmer resignation

One of the highest-rated recruits in Tennessee's 2009 class has chimed in on Vols head coach Phillip Fulmer agreeing to step down on Monday. Under Armour All-American running back Jarvis Giles (Tampa, Fla./Gaither) talked about how his recruitment will shape up now that Fulmer is out.

"Man, I think it was too early to let him go," Giles said. "He was a good coach. It was never the coaching. He just did not have the offense. I have to think about other schools now. I really like Tennessee, but they probably are going to let the whole staff go and I don't want to get caught up in that mess."

Florida State, Georgia and other schools offered Giles before he committed to UT.

Uh oh ... :bad:

See ya! This is what happens when a coach with a 150-51 record gets fired.
These kids don't go to a school because its UT, its usually because of the relationship with a coach.
We can kiss that good-bye. Allen decommitted (probably was anyway) and several more will follow. UT is in for several years of avg football.
The new coach will only last 3 years and the next one may make it work. UT is now what Alabama was 4-6 years ago.

except that we have another 4* RB in Oku staying committed, a 4 * WR in Stokes that more than likely isn't moving, and a 5* QB that should start opening game next year

Isn't Giles the one who has said that he will stay with TN as long as the new HC keeps Drayton?

just wait and see.

Giles is a homerun threat, Oku is not.
Did these kids tell YOU they were firm? Prolly not. Say what you want, but exCPF was able to "seal the deal". These kids are not going to be happy.

I don't remember where I read it, but somewhere this morning I read that the new HC is most likely to keep Scott and Drayton. Let's hope that turns out to be true!:good!:

That's a pretty large assumption by whoever considering we don't know who the next coach will be....:dunno:

No but Oku said he is staying unless they change the offense to a spread type offense. Not happening

Boyd, the QB, isn't decommitting. He said it on rivals as well

Stokes, said the same as Oku.

I am mainly worried about Giles, he is prolly lost.

We also have some good 3-4 star lineman and a beast linebacker in Jerod Askew.

source? or are you saying that cause your a cock?

"This season, as the Vols slid further into the abyss, coaches from other schools pounced on Tennessee's recruiting class members. Tampa (Fla.) Gaither High running back Jarvis Giles, the rare recruit who wants to leave the Sunshine State to play college ball, stuck with the Vols through the downturn. But on Monday, when he got the bad news from first-year Tennessee running backs coach Stan Drayton, Giles realized he needs to examine his choices.
"Pretty much, [Drayton] told me to look at Option B," said Giles, who plans to enroll at his chosen school in January. "He didn't want me to get caught up in this mess." For Giles, Option B is either South Carolina, Clemson or Boston College, with the Gamecocks holding the edge."
