He should be a good influence to his teammates, a great leader and role model! Look forward to his arrival to Big Orange Country.

Giles is the most sudden and explosive back of the three and perhaps in the entire country. Although he might not have the body structure to carry the load at this point, the Tennessee commit is very dangerous with his ability to find and hit the downhill seam very quickly and impressively reach top speed by his second step. We feel he will be most productive with 15-20 touches per game in a multipurpose role in Knoxville.

Gaither star running back and Tennessee commit Jarvis Giles heard this week about a Tallahassee radio report that said he was going to Florida State instead of Knoxville.

It was news to him.

"People were coming up to me saying, 'You're going to Florida State?'" Giles said. "I'm like, 'What you talking about?'"

Giles, aiming for his third straight 1,000-yard rushing season at Gaither, committed to the Vols this summer. While he said the calls and emails from other schools have died down, he still receives plenty of mail. The most comes from Florida State and Florida.

"I'm still getting mail from everybody," Giles said.

But Giles said he remains a future Volunteer.

"Hopefully I can take care of that rumor right now," Giles told the Times. "I ain't going back on my word. I'm going to Tennessee. That's where I'm staying and I'm happy with it."

Despite FSU rumor, Giles still committed to Tennessee

"If something happens with the Tennessee coaching staff, look for Tampa Gaither running back Jarvis Giles to take a strong look at Georgia, Florida and Florida State. Giles remains a solid commitment to the Vols, but he has been in contact with a few other staffs just in case."

He's stated many times that he doesn't want to stay instate. He wants to leave.

Losing Giles would suck so bad. Stokes got it started, but Giles got the ball rolling. I truely believe he fell in love with UT and the town, and would only decommit iif it crazy up here and the replacement is inferior to Fulmer. Can't blame a man for doing whats best for him. I do think he will not decommit until he talks to the new head coach because he stands by his word. Drayton staying would help out and keep him posted on whats going on with the team. Whoever the NHC is, first task should be flying to Tampa because he would probably be the single biggest loss and most vulnerable living in florida. Kid is confident, talented, and mature and probably could succeed early.

If/when there is a new coach, he needs to hit the ground running with "re-recruiting".
