Jarrett Guarantano

Sounds like they have an issue with JG on their hands over there on the Hill today. Don't know details or anything other than what we saw last night (cause I'm no insider), but does sound like it's spilled over into today. I'm sure there's two sides to this whole thing, but JG needs to get calmed down and realize he's one snap away from being the starter.

He posted a very team oriented, positive message on twitter about ten minutes ago.....

Didn't give the them the ball?!?!? Not from lack of trying. The ball he threw to Calloway in the middle of the field was in double coverage. He got lucky.

JG does it and it's "gutty". Agenda gonna agenda. :)

The rumor is JG is on the fence whether or not he is going to stay. It is being reported he was told he was going to play last night but it did not happen. The butthurt on the bench shows the frustrations. I wonder how this is going to play out.

It's also being said by some that JG had a verbal confrontation with CBJ when he was told that he wouldn't be the starter internally. Based on that reaction, CBJ didn't play him last night.

If that's the way he is gonna act we don't need him on the sideline. I get being pissed but how bout being a team player. Can't even get excited when we score. Looks like Hurd walking around.

But I wonder what he was told about playing time before the game...not saying his behavior was acceptable just wondering if he was told he was gonna get a couple of series...

For the long run we need Guarantano... dormady will not win games here because he can't run!!! Butchs offense is set up for a running qb!!! dormady couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night if it wasn't for Calloway going up for the ball we would still be down 14!!!! He never hit anybody in stride!!! And threw behind receivers all night

Yes he can run. No he was not inaccurate all night. I might have agreed that the issue was still enough in question that JG might end up the starter... if he hadn't so clearly put his agenda ahead of the team last night.

Dormady missed some open receivers but not many. His short passes were largely on the mark. The ball he threw to Callaway was catchable. That's what it had to be and that's what it was.

And you also have to know what you are looking at. GT played zone and dropped 8 all night. That means you don't often "hit receivers in stride". You hit receivers who find soft spots in the zone and settle down. MOST of what you are blaming Dormady for is a function of inexperienced receivers being confused by GT's zone.

On the Vols first TD drive, JG had his helmet on fwiw. If that drive hadn't been productive, I think he would've gotten a shot. Afterwards the coaches couldn't worry about him...they had a game to win. Was Condredge asked to be a babysitter or did he volunteer?

Could probably get an answer on that.

JG seems very positive on Twitter today? Hope that doesn't screw up others' agendas.

Someone posted some crap indicating he would transfer. I hope you are right. Do you have any examples?

I HOPE he gets his head straight and supports QD and his team. They may need him. He has A LOT he can learn from Dormady.

This is and will be the most important lesson that JG will learn so far in his short, storied football career. Coaches will talk to him, teammates will talk to him and Dad will talk to him. Call PMoney, ask Erik, give ole Casey a call, they will all tell you the same thing. Put that headset on and never take it off...listen and learn...Get ready - you'll get your chance before you know it....

I'm glad this happened so soon.

to be honest I don't care who the qb is im not team jg nor team dormady I just want the best guy out there that's going to help this team win..thats it...I said it earlier im happy they won the game..but IF butch is leading jg on then I think its wrong..thats it..[/QUOTE

OK that I agree on. However, we don't know what was promised or not. Im sure they wanted to get 2 in the game and perhaps they should have in the second quarter. But the game dictated going with 12 and it turned out to be the right decision in hindsight FOR THE TEAM.
I for one am not bashing 2; he gets a pass for last night. I think the team will handle the situation as a team. We likely won't see 2 act that way again.
JJs injury means all those young WRs need to step up.
We have a great deal of talent there that are first and second year players. Its their time to shine.....
GO VOLS!

Then he's a dumb*** for thinking a starting SEC job at QB was going to be handed to him. QD stayed, and JG did nothing to earn the starting job in the spring or summer or fall. The reason he is pouting is because he did not separate himself from the pack.

Fact is, come game day, QD was the best option to start this game. And, I applaud the coaching staff for not putting JG in. Had he been engaged, instead of bench crying, he would have got in. No question in my mind. but, they saw what we saw on TV. As a coach, the threat of my job would not have got JG on the field last night. As much as he probably needed to get in in the first half, I would never have done it.

And with that attitude, he definitely does not have what it would have took to help win that that game.

As is seems to be, QD settled down and did enough in the 2nd half to make it very difficult for JG to get playing time now. JG definitely going to be in the doghouse this week.

We'll know his future against Indiana state when it is time to play the subs. If there is not some acceptable atonement this week, I look for someone to move up the depth chart.

(bolded above) You don't know this at all. What we know of camp was extremely filtered and guarded. All camp long we heard the two QBs were neck and neck, with QD having the edge simply because he had gametime experience. Jones went the with more senior player as he has always done with QB's. He stuck with Justin Worley, started God AWFUL Nathan Peterman ahead of Josh Dobbs, until finally Dobbs stepped in and did pretty well. This offense require a QB that can run the damn ball and QD is not the guy.

if I rubbed some people the wrong way then I apologize.. im just fan I want to see the program do good..Sometimes I wear my heart on my sleeve....im not here trying to spread rumors or trying to divide the team in anyway..i was a lil upset on how I saw things play out last night just needed to vent a lil bit..again if I rubbed some people the wrong way apoplogize..I will try to be careful on some of the things I say..yall have a good day..go vols

Hey man great to have you on board as a VOL. We are all passionate about our team. Keep posting. As you have seen there are those that will attack/criticize for most anything. I really look forward to maturation of this offense. So many weapons in the freshman and sophomore classes. I hate that JJ got hurt, but WR is the deepest, most talented position on the team so next man up!

It seems some people forget that Dormady was on the bench for 2 years, and he never acted disinterested. He was a team player.

As as for being "promised" to play, that is ridiculous. Even though our coaching staff, in my opinion, was pathetic for 3 quarters, if any of them makes a promise like that without considering the situation on the field, then that coach does not need to be here.

Dormady set there, and many, many times, we were well ahead, but Dobbs stayed in the game. I do think that is senseless. Make sure game is under control, and then allow players to get playing time. It was very unfair for Dormady to not have played more than he did.

He is very good. He had at least 5 dropped passes in the first half alone. With pressure of the defense, and pressure of 1st game, it is amazing he was able to recover and play outstanding to end the game.

If given the opportunity, I believe he will be a very, very good QB for us for 2 years.

JG, and everyone else, should earn playing time; not depend upon gifts or promises.

Watching him not be involved in the game and sulking made me mad as well. But he's a young guy, cut him some slack. I'm sure that will be addressed in practice this week. I'd imagine it's hard to sit there when you think you could do better.

Didn't give the them the ball?!?!? Not from lack of trying. The ball he threw to Calloway in the middle of the field was in double coverage. He got lucky.

It was more like quadruple coverage. But it wasn't intercepted.
