Jarrett Guarantano

Unless he just found out some tragic family news or something then there ARE no good reasons for him to behave that way. PERIOD. He wants to lead the team then because HE didn't get what HE wanted... he abandoned the team. He didn't cheer on his team.

Oh? You have Hurd who Jones made the mistake with of coddling his prima donna attitude... and now you have JG. Who else? Do you think he's the only one dealing with disappointment? The only one who wants to play who isn't getting the role they want? He needs to grow up, quit pouting, go to work, and prove that he's a team leader ready to play when called upon. That's all.

Maybe. And they would be wrong.

As I said, it wasn't a good look for JG or the team. But we aren't talking about a walk-on or a down the depth chart recruit. We are talking about a guy that was coveted on the recruiting trail and was sold as the next big thing for UT football. People were making the observation that JG would be a natural evolution of the Dobbs-style QB.

This means two things: 1. JG should act like a leader and not wear his feelings on his sleeves. No question here. 2. Butch playing coy with the starting QB situation fed into what we saw last night. If Butch was concerned that JG would transfer when he knew that Dormady was his starter, then he should have been up front about it from the get-go. Building up all the hype around a guy that he wasn't planning on using in the first place is just showmanship and not leadership from a coaching level at all. If JG was a threat to transfer before the season started, then let the guy transfer. Don't put on this dog and pony show only to have it blow up later on.

if I rubbed some people the wrong way then I apologize.. im just fan I want to see the program do good..Sometimes I wear my heart on my sleeve....im not here trying to spread rumors or trying to divide the team in anyway..i was a lil upset on how I saw things play out last night just needed to vent a lil bit..again if I rubbed some people the wrong way apoplogize..I will try to be careful on some of the things I say..yall have a good day..go vols

You're a Canes fan and a fan of your nephew on this team. You don't have any input that would divide anything.

WTF?? He named a starter and stuck with it. Better yet, the timing to name a starter made sense so that GT couldn't game plan all week agsivst it.

I like your use of "probably". Really backs up your assertions.

Give it a break. Coach Jones botched the handling of this QB situation like he's done before. Even if he named a starter, GT had no true game film on either.

Given that I do not have insider knowledge, I can make only assumptions rather than assertions. You "probably" should go back to grade school.

That the coaches will stick with a player during a rough patch in a game? Yeah recruits hate that. :)

First half and through most of the 3rd quarter is a rough patch? Get back to me when we play SEC competition and their defenses are ripping QD and his wobbly passes to shreds. They won't need 3 quarters to expose our offense.

he missed my nephew a lot last night..it was sad..he made my nephew look bad last night..throwing behind him all the time..i just wanted my nephew to perform the way I know he capable of performing...I don't give a damn who at qb just be accurate make the damn throws..JOE WILLY can be at qb all I care..lol

So to hell with the team so long as your nephew gets his stats amirite?

Well enough to win. Kept his composure and didn't give the other team the ball. Seen some good QBs do that in their first start.

No turn overs. Key. Josh Dobbs couldn't do that. Very underrated stat of the game.

I saw a helluva lot of things that bothered me last night, but Dormady's performance was far from the list.

JG acted like a baby and Butch needs to nail him for it if he wants to leave then hit the road.

K...I'll "get back to you". Still at that rehab center? :)

Sounds like they have an issue with JG on their hands over there on the Hill today. Don't know details or anything other than what we saw last night (cause I'm no insider), but does sound like it's spilled over into today. I'm sure there's two sides to this whole thing, but JG needs to get calmed down and realize he's one snap away from being the starter.

To be fair, offense never really had the ball that much to be exposed to the risk of turnover.

No fumbles though, which is huge. INT's would have been a different story had we been playing a better defensive squad. QD won't be able to survive with this play against the SEC defenses. Hopefully just first game jitters.

Didn't give the them the ball?!?!? Not from lack of trying. The ball he threw to Calloway in the middle of the field was in double coverage. He got lucky.

The rumor is JG is on the fence whether or not he is going to stay. It is being reported he was told he was going to play last night but it did not happen. The butthurt on the bench shows the frustrations. I wonder how this is going to play out.

on the fence........hit the road jack

42 points thanks to Kelly and Calloway........open your eyes

Eyes wide open. When will you open yours?

Dormady played better after the first game jitters. The OL and receivers picked up the pace in the 2nd half.

UT held the ball for just over a quarter. If TOP had been a normal split... UT was on pace to have over 500 yds of total O in spite of the slow start. That doesn't happen if the QB doesn't do his job. It also doesn't happen if the QB makes a bunch of mistakes.

Now you can continue with your sour grapes foolishness....

So Bituli deserved to start more than DKjr? More than Smith? You're sure of that?
If his chart tells him to play the guys who earn it in practice... then that's a good chart.

Bituli now has the most tackles of any UT defender in a game since 1988, so yeah......I'll stick with what I said.

Don't just drive by with these hot takes and never drop them off.

Yeah. That rumor has been in creation all last night as one person after another without any direct info whatsoever indicated that JG had been lied to and would probably transfer.

But fwiw, if his leadership is anything like what he showed last night... the Vols are better off without him.

If that's the way he is gonna act we don't need him on the sideline. I get being pissed but how bout being a team player. Can't even get excited when we score. Looks like Hurd walking around.

Whining baby! Hope he was left in Atlanta!

For the long run we need Guarantano... dormady will not win games here because he can't run!!! Butchs offense is set up for a running qb!!! dormady couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night if it wasn't for Calloway going up for the ball we would still be down 14!!!! He never hit anybody in stride!!! And threw behind receivers all night

Even in some of his masterful games, Dobbs would cough it up...way too many times near our own endzone. One of those ends the game last night for us. That first scoring drive was important because JG was wearing his helmet on the sidelines.
