He may have had elite skill potential but he was anything but a sure fire 1st round pick.
NFL is tired of dealing with character issues also.
Look at Ryan Mallet. First round potential with character issues and he didn't even take leaves of absence from the team, get in fights or participate in a stick-up.

the comment was not meant to convey that jackson was not a good player.
nor was it meant to convey that jackson would not have been able to help the team.
i don't think tennessee's win-loss record for the 2011 season changed because he is not on the team.
maybe i am wrong. maybe the secondary will be lost without him and now the defense will be a whole new level of terrible.
but, IMO, i don't think jackson not being on the field will change the outcome of games.
JMO
Ive posted this on multiple threads today. JJ was not our best player. Malik was and is without doubt. He is ranked 4th in the country at his position. JJ was talented and a big hitter. Not our best player
Yes the NFL is tired of dealing with character issues - I totaly agree - but what if there was a recent example of a DB with failed drug tests and problems in college drafted in the 1st round - I wonder how far back we'd have to go.........I wonder who was drafted 27th overall last year?
JJ was and still is a 1st round b/c they draft off of potential and he still has unbelievable potential to be a CB or FS
I dont care how many people hate on him he was the best player on the team and was a great DB. I do agree we should have kicked him off today ( which we did) but we need to support this kid because im in highschool and you wont believe how many people do drugs its a terrible habit and it is something JJ has a problem with...... with that being said watch out for him in the NFL he will come back just like JOSH HAMILTON did
with the Rangers... So stop hating or saying negative things about this KID when you dont even know him...GBO!!
I dont hate JJ at all. I do think it's a shame that he would always end up being in the wrong place at the wrong time type deal. The kid could really play some ball and loved UT/Dooley. He will be missed.[/QUOte
How did he love Dooley or UT? Time and time again he showed the only person he cared about was hisself. He left our entire team out to dry so he could do drugs. He was great, i loved watching him play, but one word describes jj and that's selfish.
