Jamey Chadwell (Coastal Carolina)

I believe Tennessee should go after Jamey Chadwell of Coastal Carolina. Good, young coach from the local area, would be a good role modal for the players.
I would have no problem with him...I love his style of offense but he would really need to get a good defensive cord...Good young coach and he could build something special here...But then again he has never coached at a high level before...Coastal Carolina is not Tennessee so it would be taking a chance AGAIN....Did I say I love his offense?...I do I really do.

I can't believe you started a thread with just a name for the thread title!!!!! Are you trying to give everyone a heart attack? Dear God, man - should be banned for life.

(Don't believe the admin has the stones to do anything in the foreseeable future, but I'd be all in on Urban Meyer... There really are only a half-handful of coaches that have been genuinely successful _everywhere_ they've been. But the older I get, the more broken my give-a-damn gets. This all is just one step removed from having your life revolve around high school kids. More to life.)

Was it Anderson County High School he went to? I take it you didn’t like the guy...any reason in particular?

My issues with him are personal and over 20 years old. They have nothing to do with football or his acumen as a coach. They are not criminal or all that salacious in any way either. I was surprised to see his name here, didn’t realize he was coaching.

I am probably being unfair. As volmarine1371 pointed out, people can change. That said, I never want him in any capacity on the hill.

Chadwell has far more than one good season. He's been a HC longer than Fickel and has turned around/built a couple programs. No sense in being informed though.
I didn’t say he wasn’t a good coach. I was simply saying there are better young coaches out there than him right now. There’s a difference building up a program in the sunbelt than a Power 5 school. But wanna talk about building programs just look at what Bill Clarke has done and it’s nothing short of remarkable from restarting a football program that was canceled. And Fickle has proven he can develop talent and be highly ranked all year as long came from a power house school. Fickle has a QB at Cincy this year that is likely to be drafted in the 1st round. Chadwell is a good young coach and will get his chance but i do think there are better options out there right for the type of coach it will take to get us turned around and the Top Choice needs to be Freeze but we all know Fulmer not gonna swallow his pride and ego to make it happen. Fulmer is selfish and will always put himself ahead of the best interest of the football team.

Disagree. Freeze would as well. And he is super realistic.

Freeze has talent but he carries entirely too much baggage both personally and professionally. Aside from the escort issue that got him fired; he ran a shady program and had Ole Miss in boiling hot water with the NCAA. I have my doubts but he may find his way back to the SEC. For sure, it won’t be at Tennessee.

What’s so good about Chadwell? Seriously because the more I hear people talk about this stud coach I look into his career and find it interesting that his stats are not impressive. So as a head coach he is 76-51, and currently 16-16 at Costal right now. But when you look a little deeper you’ll also notice he had to Vacate 18 wins, Big South title, and vacate playoff win against the Citadel in 2015. He has a 3-3 record in playoffs in division 2 and FCS combined. People complaining about Freeze having baggage but this guy had wins and championship vacated by the NCAA but everyone looks past that. Having a 76-51 career record at places like Charleston Southern, Coastal, Delta State and North Greenville Is not as impressive as Luke Fickle having 40-20 record and in his his 2nd season he won 11 games at Cincy after winning just 4 games his 1st year. Then he followed up another 11 game win season in his 3rd season and is 2-1 in bowl games. Cincy has 4 season in history of 11 games won and Fickle has 2 of them in 3 years. I don’t see why everyone think Chadwell is a better coach than Fickle even though the numbers and facts don’t support it.

Chadwell and Freeze have a game next week curious how that one will turn out...
My money is on Freeze. Compare the teams that each team has played and you’ll find Liberty has played the tough teams and even beat Teams from a power 5 conference this year.

Coastal Carolina! Go back and watch 1 game before you post and have no idea what you are talking about!

Let me try the diplomatic approach. I went to the VA Tech/ Liberty game in person. And I’m pretty sure I watched every down of the CC /App State game on the television. What else can I watch to better inform me sir?

CC is a very small school so in no way shape or fashion should they be winning any games much less this much success. Chadwell and his staff have been together at 3 different places now and in all 3 they have been hugely successful!! Louisiana has 1 loss and to guess who? Should be a great game next week when they play each other. I’m picking CC

Sample size is not sufficient to roll the dice on this guy. He took over a solid program at Costal and he's not far enough separated from Moglia to tell what's his doing and what was inherited. I put no stock in anything coming out of FCS or lower divisions. We should only be looking at head coaches who have rebuilt programs, won championships, and/or significantly overachieved at P5 conference schools.

The reason I put no stock in FCS and lower division success is because I watch a lot of it and I have seen first hand many times over how one or two really good players can affect results at that level. It's almost like H.S. in that one great RB can turn a doormat into a playoff contender for a season or two.

Good coach and comes from a great family, his dad was my driver's ed teacher in high school. I think he's a great up and coming coach but not ready for a job like Tennessee yet. 1-2 more stops with a good track record before he's ready for any SEC job outside of Vandy or SC.
