Was he supposed to start or are Jourdan Thomas and Farook the starters with Turrentine the first man off the bench?

But at least the pros have contracts which the players adhere to almost 100% of the time. Here? I don’t know if these kids actually have contracts. I would assume they do if they are getting NIL money
Yep....I'm gonna flip to professional football over NCAA because at least the NFL has contracts and not an annual free-for-all free agency.

Someone has to get a handle on this or my give-a-crap meter going to show EMPTY.

This is a strange one. Slaughter and Charles are still in the portal. They haven't signed yet, I guess they are still shopping around.
this, to me, is why I feel that if you go into the portal, you forfeit your current contract and scholarship with the school you are "transferring from"...So, then you run the risk of losing your spot. At this point, they can pull their name out of the portal and go back without penalty...give the player some risk as well.

Damn. A year ago it was his "dream" to be here. I stopped paying attention to recruiting until they got here because it always changed. Starting to lose interest altogether.
Yes, it had gotten to where I held my excitement until I checked the roster in the first game program to see who was really on the team. Now I can’t even depend on that.

The school can terminate the scholarship when you enter the portal, I think. LOTS of guys enter the portal and never land nor come back.

UT DOES NOT have to hold his scholarship if he withdraws.

Thomas isn't NFL material. Maybe he's going as a grad transfer, perhaps even to Vandy (grad transfers can go to SEC schools) for the look on his resume or because of specific career choice.

It might not be money at all but the realization that he needs to plan for life after football.

Well, he got more money to go somewhere else. We're gonna have to spend Ohio St money if we want to stay competitive. If not, we won't. Pretty simple.
The fact that we spend money on women’s basketball but don’t do our utmost to help Josh really pisses me off

This one puzzles me...seemed like he was going to get a decent amount of playing time in what should be one of the better defenses in the SEC for his final year.
Could have really showcased himself to the league scouts.

Hopefully, it's that he did get passed up in spring camp and we have better dudes.
It's about the money. It's always about the money.

Minus Brooks, Charles, Slaughter, Thomas….. all we have at Safety is Turrentine.

What’s going on with football. We can afford Ament in basketball and can’t keep two starting safeties on a roster???
Farooq and the freshmen. Also, Kaleb Beasley can play Star or Safety.

“CAN”.

To me, it should be NCAA rule that your scholarship “IS” gone.

Lets leave the portal for those who want to transfer and not as a one-sided leverage tactic.

Your name goes in, you do not have a home. Period. Until someone signs you.

The players use leverage that's available but the schools often CHOOSE not to use leverage that's available.

I hardly see that as the fault of the players. It's there and schools don't do it. If they don't want to stand up for themselves.... 🤷‍♂️

I realized that his 1st go around here
Me too. I've lived in Georgia most of my life and all the Georgia fans absolutely hated him before he ever came here the first time as well because he was their DC. Helped them squander Matt Stafford at QB, Knowshon Moreno at RB and AJ Green at WR because they couldn't stop a wet paper bag on defense when he was calling the shots. Like Heupel, Richt was a nice and loyal guy. Martinez finds one of those types to latch onto. He has parlayed it into a long career despite being complete garbage.
