Jacob Eason Transferring?

True, and if he does get in the game, Fromm may not get back in.

If Fromme does get replaced by Eason for any reason, he will light a defense up tossing to his TE Nauta. Nauta only had 2 TDs this season, They forgot about him when Chubb & Michel agreed to come back and forced Smart to run them first, not pass first, which is what they became last year.

To play devils advicate: those who believe in personal freedom celebrate the fact that the young man chose to trade his football talents for certain benefits provided by UGA. The price and condition of that trade was put in writing with all parties signing intending to be bound by those conditions.

Imagine if he had walked into an Army recruiter’s office and signed up for a four year tour. A couple years later he no longer likes the food, he isn’t being promoted fast enough, and wants to leave. Should he be allowed to just walk into his commanders office and quit or go join the Navy?
If he got injured then he may could.

Where is it written that the whole point of amateurism is to level the playing field? The primary point of amateurism is the notion that you’re playing as a representative of something rather than as a professional for personal gain. For example: the U.S. in the Olympics, or for a University, or your church softball team. You’re doing it AT WILL for your own fulfillment.

Too many look at college sports as something that exists in a vacuum. The players are not just “talent,” they are students. The rules should be set up to best serve first that idea and secondly the idea of their athletic “career.”

As long as the same rules have to serve a football player at Alabama AND a volleyball player at Appalachian State, they have to be student first focused. Bouncing around from school to school hardly does that.

Yeah? Where is that written?

A level playing field was the initial justification for making it amateur. If players were paid, then the richest/most spend-thrift schools would get all the best players and it would be unfair. It may have changed over time, if that's what your point is, but that was the initial reason for amateurism.

We studied this in sports history and sports econ at my college (2 different classes by different professors).

Kiffin and Eason would be a good marriage. Eason could put up some big numbers in Kiffin's system and be in a good place to transfer to a big school in need of a QB to get some national attention his senior year.

He would have to sit out a year if he goes to FAU. Do people really not know the rules of transfers?

SAD!

You don't think UGA would release him to go to a non threat school like FAU?

You don’t understand that a release is different from a transfer do you?

UGA can block him from transferring to any school that UGA wants to.

He’d still have to sit out a season next year if he transfers. Only way he doesn’t if he was granted a medical redshirt for this year.

Technically they can't block him from transferring. If they do not grant him a release then he would have to sit 2 years if he transfers to another FBS school. If he transfers to a FCS or lower school, he doesn't have to sit at all.

Maybe he should look into North Dakota State and keep on trucking.

Eason has a very talented arm, one of the best in the NCAA. The issue with Eason is he just doesn't play very well right now. He won't throw into a tight window, making him hold the ball too long and his footwork isn't very good.
