Is going to have to get faster and stronger to go along with that attitude if he is to ever become an all SEC caliber OL. He's doing OK - I really don't see why some of you are bragging so much about his current level of play as it's nothing to write home about but he is only a freshman.

I have read tons of dumb stuff on Volnation before...but this post takes the cake for sure. Did you even watch the UGA game? Without him and Hall we would have lost. Not to mention he held his own against one of the best D Lines in the nation, on the road to top it off.

The kid brings the nastiness we have been missing on the oline.

KoackK and walken--I think you guys are basically saying he same thing from different perspectives. These guys are going to be really good imo, and they did well considering their age, experience, etc, but they really aren't ready to play major roles. They have had to because of depth and injury issues.. But I believe they will get there. What's rather irritating to me, tho, is that they get a bit of a pass while there have been others thrown into the fray who aren't ready and those players are ridiculed to no end. t seems to me these kids should be praised for their effort, for their play and for their willingness to step up when their number is called.

Wow PitVol, have you and coach K decided to change the forum rules that the only ones who can have an opinion have to play in the NFL? Going to be a really small forum?

If you guys didn't notice, our OL got abused again Saturday. We are so desperate we are starting true freshmen who are battling hard but it's not a fair fight against older and more mature DL's. I like our freshmen OL but they should all be getting stronger during their RS season. JJ did fairly well against the guy in front of him but was a step behind when asked to pull. Re-watch the game and tell me I'm wrong or just get mad because you don't want to believe it.

Well it's hard to RS OL when your previous "coach" or whatever that guy was, didn't recruit a single one in the 2012 class.

oh look, a poster that offers an opposite viewpoint with little credibility so that everyone will quote him

JJ and Chance did a mighty fine job given the circumstances. Tip of the cap to the red team DE that made a play at the end of the game

Buck up hero. I didn't say you couldn't offer up an opine. However, IMO, your opinion sucks. And if you haven't noticed our patched up O-Line has been getting abused all season. In a best case scenario JJ would have been allowed to RS, hell, all freshman should redshirt. But permit me to bring you into the real world, on second thought, nah. You just linger out in la-la and hopefully one day you'll figure it out.

Well said Koach..... Well said

All of this arguing is stupid. It's pretty simple.

Our patchwork OL has played better than last season, especially in the run blocking department.

The true freshmen are playing admirably given the situation they've been thrust into.

Our OL still has a long way to go to he a truly good OL and allow us to fully open up the playbook.

No - I'm just fishing for likes....

You guys keep sticking your heads in the sand. Just like all the coaches say - the video don't lie. Watch the game and focus on the LOS and not the ball. You will see why we keep coming up short in these close games. Every quality SEC coach preaches the same thing - SEC games are won in the trenches and we aren't winning the trenches especially on offense. KK is the ONLY OL playing at SEC caliber this season.

These freshmen aren't getting knocked out but they are losing on the scorecard right now. It looks promising that they can start wining the trench wars in the next couple of years as they mature physically - let's hope so anyway.

Peace out!

Can't speak for everybody else but he's performing better than the guy in front of him...so he earned my brag.

I'm glad I'm not as "smart " as you...I see them play better and I'm simply ok with it. Ignorance IS bliss. :)

Did you actually read pitvols post? Just curious how you write that from what he rebuttaled.

Good grief!

fyi...Since you are so quick to critique a freshman, make sure to watch bamas online as well since our dline chapped their asses most of the day and 5 sacks!

Good grief JJ & JH were in HS 5 months ago & now facing 1 of the best dline in the country.

I hear Jack Jones will room with Paul Bain, for what it's worth. Seriously though, these games against tough competition will prove invaluable for these freshmen. Big payoff.

VN logic: you've got to be Bruce Matthews to make a legit criticism of an OL.

Otherwise you'll have some backwoods yokel saying you're a pencil necked nerd.

This OL played well given the competition and circumstances but there is plenty of room to improve.

JJ played well but I don't get the jawjacking. Bama sacked and pressured Dobbs at will.

Sure did...here's what I read;

KoachKletus;
You try it. Strap on big boy, jump in the trenches against All SEC D-line man and see how you do.

American PitVol
Your probably 5'7" a buck nothing, and talkin smack? Shut up. The kid is doing great with the tests he has been put through. Chance Hall as well. Shut your pie hole

So you really think my response of "wow pitvol, have you and coach k decided to change the forum rules that the only ones who can have an opinion have to play in the nfl? Going to be a really small forum?" was off-topic?

Jack and Jashon are two damn good guards we will have the next 2 more years.

I think Venzell Boulware will be in that mix. He'll redshirt this year. We beat out Georgia and OSU to get him. This is the kid that wore the UT hoodie for Mark Richt's home visit.

Big time hats off to Jack and Chance for playing big boy ball so early into their promising careers. Had the zebras called the plethora of holds bammers DTs were applying on Vereen and Barnett, then the stats would've indicated a better grade for UT's OL over bammer's blockers. Next year's group will allow this offense to open up dramatically, and this early-on experience will allow UT's run game and pass protection to make our guys national contenders. It's all good, fellas.

I can't help but think his playing style and tenaciousness will be contagious to his teammates. Lets hope so anyway. Great effort by this and other young men.

Please point out the play or plays which demonstrated JJ's "playing style and tenaciousness" which is not currently being displayed by the other TN OL?

I must be completely in the dark and need to re-watch the game as I saw a young guy in there giving it his best against bigger and stronger competition. Hat's off to him - he ain't skeered and will go to war even though he's been called up a bit early!

I however didn't see the plays where he showed out. Please educate me so I can be exercised of my current moronic perception of JJ as a talented true freshman who should be pretty good in a couple more years and maybe really good before he gets out of UT.

If you "exercised" your moron neurons, that explains a lot...you made em stronger! :w00t: Gotta EXORCISE them, playa!

On a more serious level, you're coming across real butthurt over our impression of these freshmen. If you're smarter than us and know they suck, why can't you just be content with that knowledge? As is, you portray desperation in trying to sway our viewpoint. Why can't you be happy?

Spell checked again - ha.

Please point out the post where I said any of these freshmen suck as I don't think its out there?

I like this freshman class and think CBJ found some real ball players who will develop into an excellent group. I'm really impressed with Tuttle and Jennings! Last year I never understood why the coaches played Thomas over the other guys. This year its clear some of these freshmen are already better than what was on campus however, that's probably more a knock against the upper classmen. What I'm not seeing is the amazing freshmen play that so many are referencing and I'd like to participate. Unlike most on here, my mind is open to the facts. :eek:k:

I think you're mischaracterizing our praise...I don't think they're "amazing"...just an upgrade of what we witnessed last year and earlier this year. "Better" is still pretty good huh? :hmm:

Appears you have a more reasoned opinion, but you can't read back through this thread and not notice the over the top statements being throw around? I know its a VN thing as half the players on the roster have someone claiming they'll declare for the draft after 3 seasons before they even step onto the field. :eek:lol:
