I’m excited that another Tennessee kid is coming back to wear Orange but I am curious about our recent run of this with Key, Gainey, Chaz, JaKobi, and even Bowden.
Did we under evaluate them out of high school? Did we even look at them?
Did they not want to come to UT out of high school?
Or, did they vastly improve once they got to their respective colleges?
Barnes and staff have an eye for talent but these guys appear to have been overlooked.
Any help here @bleedingTNorange ??

Some guys develop late. Look at the schools each one chose. Did any of them pick a high major? Or even a major? No. That tells you that they weren’t there yet as prospects. It wasn’t just Tennessee that didn’t see it with them as high school prospects.

Not sure why Jordan Bowden is on this list. He was a 4 year player at Tennessee. And Tennessee only.

Yeah I see this all the time and have a few opinions on it.

Some kids just need more time to mentally develop and mature to a point where they really understand HOW to play basketball at a high level. And more importantly, how to prepare.

Once that happens you can see their potential.

And a lot of that has to do with family and financial situation IMO.

Families with more access to resources push the kids into the preparedness part at earlier ages. They kind of do it for them with travel ball, camps, personal coaches etc..

The NBA and top high school prospects if you’ve noticed, are no longer predominantly kids from the projects etc… It’s a lot of upper middle class kids or the sons of former players.

The NBA is like 10% legacy players at this point which is wild. But those kids have the genes to be tall and the resources to be good.

Maybe Jordan went to a prep school? I thought he had came in as a sophomore

I'd say a little underestimate like Bowden too close to Knoxville to be that good, in 2022 headline although transfer wrong straight out of Greeneville HS 2-time State champ. 1743871528520.png 2022 it looked like this.

Not sure why it says transfer. He went to Belmont straight out of Greeneville high school.

Didn't think it was necessary with this one. Hardly subtle, but I suppose I overestimated my audience.
Well, after a rough day out in the real world, wearing our own face and name, we come to Volnation behind an avatar looking for any post that makes us feel smarter or more informed than someone else.

I'm guilty of it.

Blue font is just taking out self-defense insurance against having to respond, "Hey--it's me! Don't you know I would never say that and mean it?"
