Those not aware, Ja’Kobi is from local Greeneville, TN, about an hour northeast of Knoxville. He played at Greeneville High School.

In his interview, he said he told his dad, when he was 10 years old, that he was gonna play BB at Tennessee. Said when he went in the portal, it was a done deal--dream come true for him. He also said Barnes gave him the keys to the team and said he would build a team of players around him.

I like that he's a PG but I'm not sure how it's going to translate via Rick Barnes system???? I could be totally wrong but I feel like he likes to play more tempo and chucks deep 3's against better/bigger teams.

Do the research. Maryland was 281st (well behind UT) in pace per Warren Nolan. Maryland was 6th in defensive efficiency, and Gillespie was a big part of that. Another high level defensive guard. He also shot 42% from 3. He’s a top 10 portal player for a reason.
