J Jennings Dismissed from UT

Sooo.....I'm curious to know if all you folks slamming Hoke and Currie are OK with juvenile rants by scholarship athletes "Effing the program and coaching staff" are acceptable ??
Some here sound like they're willing to accept anything from these kids...as long as they perform on the field.
THAT really is the ultimate "millenial privilege" syndrome at it's worst. I wouldn't want to think I'm supporting that kind of program.

"Millennial privilege" -- please!!! It really doesn't matter so long as we are winning and that's the truth. You think the name "The Fulmer Cup" just happened by chance? No. Fulmer let his guys get away with practically anything. "Millennial privilege" is just a phrase old entitled farts like to use cause they think kids today have it so much better than when they were younger. The ol' "I used to walk uphill both ways to get to and from school" mentality. I guarantee you plenty of the guys Fulmer recruited especially in the late 90s/early 2000s would have the same approach if social media/the technology existed back then. The only difference between today and back then is that the filter is turned off and there is no longer a bridge to pass over to get your opinion out there for the fans to see. The players don't have to go through media outlets to express their opinion, they can just click and button to put it out there - it takes literally no work at all - just a simple click of a button. That's how it is. That's how it's going to be - unless the next HC completely bans public social media accounts ala Dabo Swinney (not a bad idea).

There has to be more to the story. As bad as the video is, no way he got kicked off the team for that alone. Currie would be facing mutiny from the entire team if that were the case.

Sounded to me like he was trashing an incompetent coaching staff.

I wish we could say good riddance to the current staff before we say good riddance to one of our best players.

The next coach should've written off on JJ, not our interim who is buddies with the guy who gave us our worst season in modern history. I think a suspension was more in order, not a full on dismissal the day before Thanksgiving. It was a chump move by Hoke and Currie, period. It doesn't look good for our program.

Guess it wasn’t a chump move to trash the staff publicly over the internet (wether it was justified or not) There is a time and place for everything and this certainly doesn’t look good for the program either. Why not just lay low for one more game like he has done all season, from wherever that was, and see what the new coach and staff have to offer????

I've got no problem with him speaking his mind. He has every right to that. I just feel like it showed a great amount of immaturity. All I've heard is how he was supposed to be a leader. That didn't seem like a leader to me. He's always been an emotional player and I always liked that about him. But you have to show some common sense. I'm not sure what happened so I can't say if dismissal was the correct move or not either. Still hate to see him go. Thanks for the big plays, JJ. GBO.

There's actually a chance that academics drove all this.

If JJ truly skipped an entire semester of classes, he may have been ruled academically ineligible for sports. He may have been put on academic probation.

Sure, it was the interim head coach, in consultation with the athletic director, who informed JJ that he's no longer on the team, but that doesn't mean they had a choice in the matter.

We won't know the facts until/unless they come out from someone inside the circle.

As long as we don't know, makes no sense to throw stones about.

Just about every coach prefers to keep everything" in house". I guarantee there have been plenty of transgressions within this year's team's lockerroom that we don't know about...just like Fulmer's teams. JJ decided to go public. Bad idea. When **** hits the media, be it in 1997 or 2017, it puts the coach on the "what are you gonna do about it stage."

And FWIW...Milennial Entitlement is real. You're probably correct about technology playing a part in its existence, but the youth of this nation is not the same as it has been. I'm not old by any means (41), but I have coached for years, volunteered to work with my church youth group, worked with juvenile delinquents and have been in the PA prison system for 12 years. There have always been "good" and "bad" kids. But the entitlement and lack of effort has changed. I promise you that.

Opinions based off ignorance is the fabric or the internet.

Let the outrage continue.

There is a chance that he will get reinstated with the new coach. He may have used some coarse language but can we stop bashing this kid for telling the truth.
