J Jennings Dismissed from UT

The video that I've seen is really 2 videos in one. The 1st one that was "cut short" would have got him suspended. We he came back to add more to it, that's when he got dismissed.

These outbursts started with Butch. Now players have picked up his bad habits. Any time a person starts running their mouth, it shouldn't be a surprise there will be consequences. Pitch a fit and you get what you get.

I don't recall every seeing CBJ trash his coaching staff or trash his players with a profanity filled video. That did not happen.

If JJ was influenced it was by fans and media types on social media and possibly by one in particular VFL who has been known to spew this type of garbage.

Butch let the refs have often. Those are the fits I was referring to.

I'm not aware of any other videos, just the ones from games.

What happened to freedom of speech and the fact that these coaches are doing exactly what he said they were doing. The bad hires made at Tennessee has ripped this football program apart. I'll be glad when we can clean house.

Mr. Currie,

I know the past few months have been a roller coaster of emotions for Vol fans and yourself. I understand that making a decision to fire Coach Jones and finding a replacement in a timely fashion is no easy task. If you haven't noticed this has negatively affected some of our players.

There are two sides to every coin and some of the emotions of having an incompetent staff for the past five years caused this fiasco today.

*I know it may be asking a lot and it is after all a holiday week but this university is paying you a lucrative amount of money to be the care taker of athletics and right now the basketball team appears to be handling itself quite well. Maybe, just maybe instead of vacationing in the Bahamas you could have been here today with the proverbial squeaky wheel to handle this matter a little better and to continue to search for the next leader of our football team.

*Mr. Jennings actions today were inexcusable and honestly he should have been punished in my opinion but let's be honest this punishment does not fit the crime. Give this young man a chance to explain himself face to face with you, or the new coaching staff to discuss his future.

I really hope that this time off from the search and from the football team that so desperately needs a care taker right now, helps out. I'm sure we will all be blown away by the new hire you unveil in the coming weeks.

Regards,
JuggernautVol...

Dear Mr. Juggernaut,

You do not even know what the crime was. How on Earth can you judge whether the punishment fits?

Regards,
Logic

What happened to the right to remain silent?

JJ knew what he was doing, that's why he said he wouldn't take it down.

Did he take it down?

Freedom of speech = freedom to get yourself fired, vilified, shunned, mocked, kicked out of facilities and perhaps even cast into a mental institution.

Speech, just like any other action, has consequences.

But sure, you're free to do it.

Sooo.....I'm curious to know if all you folks slamming Hoke and Currie are OK with juvenile rants by scholarship athletes "Effing the program and coaching staff" are acceptable ??
Some here sound like they're willing to accept anything from these kids...as long as they perform on the field.
THAT really is the ultimate "millenial privilege" syndrome at it's worst. I wouldn't want to think I'm supporting that kind of program.

Good news! You aren't. You're supporting a program run by thin-skinned losers who can't win an SEC football game.

You are right. Just shows how bad some of our fans are who want to win at any cost.

Still carrying water I see, I'm convinced you would drink the bath water of this staff. Please follow Butch to his next stop, Jennings made a mistake but is it really any different than Butch saying F all our fans on national t.v.?

Social media has made it nearly impossible to learn and mature in the previously normal processes of "live and learn" to understand the effect of one's actions and words. I said as many opinionated things and did as many irresponsible things as these kids. But only a handful of people were around to see and hear it. Their reactions usually taught me a lesson, so I may have burned a relationship or two, but I did not have the whole world turn on me.

I'm not familiar with drinking bath water but, we all know everybody had rabbit ears for Butch. He ended up getting fired over losses.

This deal with JJ is more. JJ knew he would catch flack about his videos. That's why he said he wouldn't delete them.

I'm not going to say there is 0% chance(Some are aware of how I feel about that.)some Vol fan wanted us to keep Butch, but I will say we have a better chance of making a bowl game.

das rite! go axe the Dixie Chicks about consequences

Then Currie still gave him the option to finish out the season... laughable.

I don't quite understand why this is a problem. He didn't finish the season. Did it change how we played against LSU? The only reason we got a shot against Vandy is that they just might suck worse than we do. Any other school on our SEC schedule could beat us now. I wouldn't want to play GT now either.

why UT has no interest, maybe ?

While I suspect, based on your posts, you have yet to enter the job market, it's difficult to work with someone you dislike. Yes, it happens because many people have no choice in the matter, but if you do have the power to control who you work with, you certainly want someone you relate to, agree with, enjoy working with. Currie is in that position. He has the power. Why choose a guy that's thought of as a prick, a guy with ncaa issues, a guy who may bolt back to the NFL, a guy who doesn't know the south and dislikes recruiting? When your neck and career ride on this choice, why take a risk on a guy like that when you have other candidates who fit what you're looking for much better. Guarantee you Currie is looking for a 10 year guy not some "name" that fans feel will win the press conference. As I near retirement, I can guarantee you I'd have no interest in Kelly either given what I know about the situation and what I'd want for UT if I were in curries position.

Pretty clear Jennings didn't want to think he was supporting the sort of program that lied to their players. That it's gotten so bad that when asked about what they want in a new coach, a fellow player replied "honesty."

Make a video about your boss and co-workers and post it where all will see and you too will learn the life lesson.

Tennessee football program isn't your typical business. And the players are not employees. And the coaches are on their way out.

Show me another business where it's leaders physically and mentally bully and neglect it's employees, and I'll show you a business with multiple lawsuits.

Still not a life lesson

If Jennings gets the privilege of playing at the next level and becomes frustrated with his coaches or managers, he will think twice before mouthing off on social media about them because he would know the results would be the same. Thus life lesson.
