J Jennings Dismissed from UT

Still not a life lesson

Life lesson implies that JJ will learn that this behavior is not an acceptable way to get whatever it is that he wanted and as such if in a similar situation in the future - he will learn from this.

Of course that all depends upon him realizing this was not acceptable.

If Jennings gets the privilege of playing at the next level and becomes frustrated with his coaches or managers, he will think twice before mouthing off on social media about them because he would know the results would be the same. Thus life lesson.

Yes. We were typing something similar at the same time.

Terrel Owens did pretty well.

Yup. Actions have consequences. Valuable life lesson.

For a while. TO was a cancer to every organization he was a part of. He divided the locker rooms in Philly and in Dallas. I think teams will be careful going forward to keep someone like that off a team because of the damage they can do.

You don’t dismiss someone for what he did. He spoke his mind and you say it’ll be a life lesson. What a joke. This is why Tennessee is a joke. Because we have a bunch of uppity ***holes that thanks that it’s still a privilege to play at Tennessee. The news is out and it’s NOT and hasn’t been for long time. Mostly because of what Jennings was talking about.

Pretty clear Jennings didn't want to think he was supporting the sort of program that lied to their players. That it's gotten so bad that when asked about what they want in a new coach, a fellow player replied "honesty."

You are assuming that said player was naming a quality that isn't attributable to the current coach verses one that said player liked with the current coach. Don't assume.

That said I am sure that all these players, all through life, are told how good they are, how they will be the next superstar .. blah ... blah .. blah. And I am sure that when it comes from a coach or mentor it also includes words like .. earning it, working hard, etc. The disagreement comes when a player believes they have worked hard, have earned it but another person has worked harder, earned it more and they are not the chosen one.

Another lesson in life - life is not always fair. You don't always get everything you thought you should get. Sometimes another person is just better than you or works harder than you or deserves it more. That is not dishonesty by anyone - that is just the nature of competition.

Truth is - new coach will have his own style. New coach will have his own vision of what he wants in a football player. New coach will recruit and extend offers to players that meet that criteria. Some of the players on the team will NOT meet that vision. Some players on this team will have to change their attitude to be in line with the new coach - or they will not play.

I would get fired from my job if I did what he did. And I would not do it again.

Actually I am not stupid enough to do it the first time. Never was even as a young adult.

Do not agree with how he said it but the truth of the matter is this is how a lot of players feel about this staff.

So, let me get this straight. Guy wouldn't appear on sidelines to support his teammates, and then wasn't cleared to play the Vandy game = rant against all things Butch. UTAD had to do this...forced their hands. That being said, regardless of how it came across badly, he's got passion to win. I suspect an interview with Currie and new coach, where he publicly apologizes could land him back on the team. Need WR's...it's not like we have anyone who can separate from DB's at this point and make plays...or for that matter, even throw to WR's past 3 yards.

This just in: Gruden reinstates Jauan Jennings. #Grumors

This just in... Dealing with Jauan type situations is exactly why Gruden says "No thanks".
More importantly, it is exactly why a long term, successful coach teaches discipline, searches for playing leaders and preaches "team".
Our football Vols lacked all three this year. Last year's Lady Vols underachieved for the same reasons.

JJ burned the bridge he was on. I'm not going to say he has a 0% chance of coming back, but I will say we have a better chance of making a bowl game.

His videos seemed to be directed at the staff as well, not just Butch.

Even Johnny Majors learned that you can't cuss your bosses in public without severe consequences.

It's not the best idea to cuss them to their face in private setting either.

There are a lot if people that don't like to be dog cussed by anyone. Bunch of snowflakes.
