J Jennings Dismissed from UT

After raising two young men, I can tell you that 20 year olds are emotional and not always wise on how to display their frustrations. I hope and pray there were other circumstances we are not aware of. If not, an interim coach -on an admittedly poor coaching staff, possibly ruined a young man’s future.

Probably a good reason to limit the means to broadcast emotional thoughts when someone is too immature to self limit.

I'd rather have the new coach involved in the decision since he would be the one that would have to deal with any APR impact that comes from this. That's all. Anyways, Happy Turkey Day.

If JJ hasn't been going to class, with his dismissal our APR may increase enough to get an invite to a bowl.

You can definitely tell that you never played at the college level. When you are injured your job is to show up for treatment and thats it. You do not go to away games, you do not risk anything else, and often coaches don't want you on sidelines even for home games. Its a safety precaution, money saving, no win outcome. Even if it was his choice to not be on the sidelines then it is still HIS choice. Nobody else's.

Yea and his choice to mouth off got him booted from the team. Clearly a good decision maker here. I can def tell you don't have respect for authority (likely a millennial) because if you did you would know JJ shouldn't have done what he did today. And injured players are on the sidelines all the time chief.

I cannot BELIEVE we allowed our Interim LOSER of a coach dismiss the kid for saying what everyone had been saying and knows to be true. Our best receiver, gone.

So many other players can basically get away with murder and this dude takes a shot at this coaching staff's oversized ego and GETS CANNED.

The hell with Currie, this staff, and all of their baby parts.

link to video should suffice.

I saw it. Just don’t know the timing on if that was why or his response.

Best “guess” I’ve read yet is that he was dismissed from the university. If that’s the case then he’s off the team also.

Another comment said he hadn’t attended classes since he was hurt in Ga Tech. Which if true would go to reason for university dismissal.

That might make sense in his rant in the video. The timing. If he’s out of the university now he of course can’t play against Vandy. Moot point.

Might be interesting if this is the sequence of events. If so nobody to blame but himself.

Hehe, nice thought, but I think they only recalculate APRs a couple-few times a year.

It's not like a tachometer, constantly moving up and down in real time.

Our APR (972) probably doesn't reflect Jauan reportedly skipping almost an entire semester's worth of class. So it can't go back up if it hasn't yet gone down in the first place. :)

He ain't playing against VU for sure.

So does anybody have info of if he was dismissed from the team or the university? Big difference and big impact on where everybody should be directing their self righteous fury. If he’s out of school it’s out of Currie’s and Hoke’s hands would be my guess.

If about 20 games go our way over the next two weeks we only need one team to decline a bowl bid for us to get our shot. I've heard Currie has come out saying we would decline an offer. I think that's a smoke screen to trick bag the programs in front of us on the list to decline so when it's offered to us we would accept making all the ones that passed look like jackwagons.

Joe Mixon visciously hit a woman and was suspended. Jauan says what is on all of our minds and gets dismissed. Wow!!

I️ agree that JJ took it too far with his choice of words, but perhaps Currie should have got his Mai Tai sippin’ ass back to Knoxville to hear JJ’s complaints before allegedly signing off on this dismissal.

If this staff/admin allowed Jennings to remain on the team after not going to class since September, and decides to dismiss him for airing his grievances (however stupid it may have been), then we have a much larger problem at our University.

What has JJ ever done to earn an audience with the AD? This is the problem...and it goes beyond this situation. Milennial entitlement. Kids think they can do and say what they want without repercussions. And when they are held accountable, they are now victims.

Last week we had an inmate with a keyboard win the yard. He was playing it too loudly and for a large group of inamates...2 rule infractions. The Sergeant gave him a chance to disperse his group and tuen down the keyboard. He refused twice. The 3rd refusal resulted in a confiscated keyboard. 2 hours later, the inmate's mommy called to complain. His MOMMY. The mommy of a thug serving 8 years for assault. A thug with actual victims had his mommy call about his keyboard...in PRISON.

Now I am not at all callibg JJ a criminal or comparing JJ to a criminal. I simply see a parallel between these 2 recent situations. Young idiot does something wrong...and they become the victim. Screw holding them accountable. Let's blame someone else just cuz we don't like em. Tennessee is the authority figure. JJ publically bashed the authority figure in a senseless rant. But the AD should stop what he is doing to cater to him. Pass.

If you’re a coach considering the UT job, would you want players blasting crap like that on instagram to be tolerated? Currie did what he had to do, I support it.

I wonder what a lot of you would say if this had been Bo Scarbrough at Bama, Jalen Tabor at Florida, or Tyrann Mathieu at LSU?

This is ridiculous.... a coach who won't be here in just a few weeks is going to dismiss our best offensive player...... smh.... hopefully the new coaching staff will reinstate him....

I'm beginning to wonder if we will ever be good in football again.... there's now a generation that has never seen Tennessee win...

Seems the ad, that will be here was consulted.
