I thought the rule was leading with your head. If true, then it was a bogus call. He definitely twisted his torso and led with his shoulder. The NCAA uses stupid language like "launching" because they're professor types who must have conferred with NASA before writing the rule.
They should review those calls also. The reason they don't is because of the monopoly called the NFL. They can fine Harrison of Pittsburgh for a hit even when evidence shows it was the wrong call. I can understand the rule. It's a good rule in theory. But the NFL and NCAA have royally screwed it up. And the NCAA has made the celebration rule a joke. They aren't consistent at all. Funny thing is the Big 10 officials (same as UT-UNC game) did the same thing to Kansas State yesterday with the celebration rule. Just before the questionable call in that game, a Syracuse DL sacked the QB, stood up and celebrated with his little dance. In that series, Kansas State scores and salutes to get flag. Okay to do if you're a DL but not WR?
I would get rid of the celebration rule except when taunting. And review all questionable calls as with JJ.
If they want "no launching", then wear f*&%$ng roller skates. The Big 10 owes UT and K-State apologies for their awful calls yesterday.
The last drive last night was the best example I have seen yet of the refs taking the game out of the players' hands and deciding who won for themselves. There were multiple, and I mean multiple, holding calls missed on the UNC OL....Pathetic.
