It was a tweet by gmann and was retweeted by UT Recruiting news so I don't know if it is accurate or not. The visit very well may have been cancelled and its false info. Just not sure.

Yea that's an old tweet, the visit has been cancelled and UT is not likely to recruit him at this point.

Their attention is gonna turn towards Owens and Cofer, and then if Suarez gets his release him.

I thought Suarez already got his release?

If Suarez doesn't get his release and Thompson sticks with his decision, would we need to look to a guy like Chiles for PG next year?

Yea probably

If that happens though you can probably sell a guy like Shelton Mitchell on coming in and being your starter from day 1

The legend of the "vilified" Trae Golden has grown legs, but in reality, those who weren't sad to see him go mostly questioned his effort at times, his consistency, and his physical tools to play PG on both ends of the floor, mainly defense.

I'd take him back too, if he came back as a SG. As a PG, he wasn't quick enough offensively to break his man down, nor quick enough defensively to defend other PGs. He could get to the paint and finish with his floater due to his strength and he was solid at the FT line. Inconsistent outside jumper and awful defender. 12.5 ppg means very little if your man routinely outscores you on the other end. Opposing PGs set career highs in points on us far too often with Trae attempting to defend them.

Jenny probably would want him to come back also! Tennessee doesn't need any driftwood from the past coming back. CDT needs a clean slate as far as his players are concerned with no ties to the last coach.

Now back on, scheduled for Monday, could get cancelled again though according to VQ. Maybe this has something to do with Suarez?

Strange to me that Suarez hasn't been granted his release yet. Doesn't make sense that they would release Carmichael and not Suarez. IMO

I would like to change my stance on Chiles if anyone cares lol. Was just kinda scribbling out our roster, as well as a class and position breakdown, he's got a spot IMO.

I doubt Thompson's coming back, which is why you see Chiles visit being set back up IMO. If Suarez comes in he's likely your PG, but if he 1. Doesn't get released or 2. Suffers an injury or FT, who's his backup?

Mostella could play there, Richardson in a pinch, but that's not an ideal scenario. If you can convince Chiles he's gonna see minutes, and get him here committed, and signed before Suarez were to commit, ideal scenario IMO.

A guy like Shelton Mitchell would be nice, but we don't appear to be making much head way there, and I'm also not huge on the idea of taking 5 or 6 freshman in the same class.

If Thompson isn't returning, then I think you definitely take Chiles, as he's only a 1-year investment. Provides immediate depth at PG.

Agree completely. Like I've said all along with Chiles he's like Trae in that he is better suited at the 2, but I would gladly welcome trae on the team as a backup PG/SG.

Saw in another thread where Tyndall apparently stated that he's going to need a final decision from the players considering transferring soon. My guess would be it's directly related to this. Needs to know Thompson's decision so he knows whether to pull the trigger on Chiles or not.

Yea that's what I was thinking as well, it wasn't in reference to Davis as he made it clear he's not coming back. Chiles is the only other PG unless they've made up ground on Mitchell, but I've not heard they have.

Apparently his sister played softball at Tennessee a few years ago so theres a connection there. He's also originally from Kentucky so Tennessee is much closer to home than auburn or Maryland.

Just looked at the IUPUI roster for this past year and Chiles is listed as a junior. Are you sure he graduated?
