It's very evident after tonight.

Here is my vent:

No progress offense or defense.

Vols played exactly the same in UF and Ole Miss games. Our opponents didn't, but both still played to win and won.

Wimpy un-imaginative play calling.
I don't care if they are freshmen or seniors. Play calling can make them look bad or good.

When I go to Vol games, I sit in seat 18, row 24, section U. This should tell you how long I have been a fan.

Worley is hurt. We already know Peterman sucks! So what now?

He may be tough, but Worley sucks too! His poor decision making is getting old. We will not have poorer results with Peterman, trust me; I am no fan of Peterman.

3 points is embarrassing. Butch did not hire the best staff in the nation.

So beating who you're supposed to and losing to the top terms in the nation is regressing? We're right where the sane people thought we would be, fighting for a bowl game.

Really? huh I thought for sure this was a title contender. With all the freshmen and the fantastic, experienced O-line

this teams offense is regressing instead of getting better. they look anxious and ready to get off the field. they are beyond bad.

i expected 6-6 this year. with 5-7 IF we showed week to week improvement. i see regression in line play. i expecr our team to show up. this offense is ****ing awful.

im behind this team and these young men. but the product on offense were seeing is just embarrassing.

We have the most bipolar, delusional, impatient, and fickle fanbase in the country. It's really embarrassing sometimes....

Also screw red shirting Dobbs. Get him in their now to hopefully gives this offense a spark and maybe save this season. Will worry about the qb position on another day (season). Tired of the wait till next season mentality. Win now and worry about the other things at another time. This is just painful to watch. I feel sorry for our defense. They played a great game and gave our offense great field position in the first half to capitalize. And what did the offense do? Lay a fat egg! Oline is young I understand. Worley you suck! What's your excuse?

I'm going to put this out here for you to mull over.

I am in agreement that Dooley didnt help Butch, however

Jones took a Cincinnati team that went 12-1 in Kelly's last year and went 4-8 the next season

Butch Jones staring into the camera at his post game presser with that stern 'I mean business' look on his face after yet another SEC loss and emphatically stating "We will get there...I PROMISE YOU", is getting old.

I think a lot of us are fed up with "promises" of "getting there".

Georgia and Florida games were ripe for the taking. Should we celebrate that we "almost" beat Florida or "almost" beat Georgia? Not me. Forget that noise.

Win or shut up.

How long must we celebrate "moral" victories. At some point they cease to be be that. You can't pile up on 'moral' victories and have them remain to be "victories". They aren't "victories" anymore.

Butch will come on again and give us that stern look and "guarantee" that winning real games is just around the corner, and less and less people are going to buy it.

It's not about winning or losing (as it pertains to this discussion). I honestly didn't expect a win tonight, but at the same time, I didn't expect our team to look like Jones waded into the stands and got a pickup team together.

Special teams is way better. Have you seen a return for a td?? How much has medley improved. Yeah and 9 new starters on offense. That's starting over.

Special teams coverage teams are ok, return teams are very bad. Happy to have Medley, he's doing well, but he's not better than Palardy was last year, that's the comparison.

The statement was "if you don't see OVERALL improvement you're an idiot". Was just disputing it. We're not better overall....we're only better defensively.

I think it is very evident tonight that Ole Miss is the better team and clearly more opportunistic. It is also evident that our senior Qb makes bad decisions and that we have put in all 8 OL we have on scholarship (or whatever the number is that is too low) and we simply can't block anyone. It is also evident that our team is incredibly young and prone to making mistakes because of this youth.

Its clearly evident to me that we suck.

Ok all, don't beat me down too much after you read this.....

After watching tonight's game, I'm not going to even attempt to say I know the answer as to why our offense is so bad. I'm not a coach. I'm not on the sidelines or in the locker room.

There is one thing I do remember. When a little 9 lb baby boy was born and I held him and changed his "stinky" diaper, I saw a fire in his little eyes that resonated 18 years later in an orange and white uniform with #27 on the back of it. That baby baby played ground pounding defense and was part of the '98 National Championship Vol team, and here's what Al Wilson told our youth at church that he often told his team.... "while it takes the defense to hold the opponent, it takes the offense to score the goal. But the offense has got to believe in the defense just like the defense has to believe in the offense in order for both to be considered a team".

With that said, I tend to believe the defense is trying to do its best and has in my opinion played better than last year. But our offense seems disconnected. Yes, this is a young team. And our QB situation is at best in dark water. A lot of VN fans blame the coaches, but no matter how hard the coaches drive these guys, until the players get out there, execute and play hard, Pete Carroll, Jim Harbaugh, or even Peyton at QB can get a "W". I don't blame Butch. I blame the "mindset" of this young baby team of players. Ok, let this old girl have it....lol....:mf_surrender:

Butch said year 2 was going to be the toughest this team is so much better than last years team at least we weren't blown out the building against #3 Ole Miss like when we played #2 Oregon last year

I swear you could repost the threads from Dooley just switch Defense for Offense. "We are SO much better on offense, if we just had a defense! We are getting better! You guys just have to give him more time!!"
