In poking around the different social media outlets, I saw that there are many fans who still believe that Holly is a good coach and that the players are at fault for the program's problems. This year it's mostly because of having "so many freshmen and sophomores," but the double-whammy is that those players are, apparently, "uninspired and don't care" like players USED to care.
I guess they've already forgotten that last year we had two seniors who went on to be drafted into the WNBA in Nared and Russell, senior Kortney Dunbar, junior Meme Jackson, redshirt-junior Cheridene Green and several much-ballyhooed McDonald's All-American freshmen -- yet the very SAME breakdowns occurred. The same breakdowns that are occurring now that have occurred nearly every year of Holly's tenure. The players change, but the identical issues re-surface year after year.
So, what is the real problem? Seems obvious to me, but I find myself wondering if the people who are still convinced that Holly is a terrific coach will still feel that way if these same issues are occurring, say, 5 years from now. Will they admit it then? Or will it take longer... say, 10 more years of the same issues for them to admit that maybe it's not the players? Would it take 20 years for some people to admit that the same identical issues coming up over and over and over and over again, year after year after year after year, just may indicate a breakdown at the TOP? Will some people NEVER admit it, even if the same problems occurred for 25 more years?
What will be the threshold for Holly's true believers? Is there one???????????
