We need honest answers from TIC. If they're at a place where they feel the University of Tennessee should be satisfied with an also ran SEC football program, then we truly can vote with our support and loyalty.

Coaches taking good contracts haven't created the crap we endure at UT, TIC hiring, buying out, not buying out, and essentially mismanaging the football program created this.

We need to look at issues well beyond coaching.

Actually heard today that three schools offered contracts with smaller buyouts. The discussion was if other schools would follow this precedent going forward. I believe I heard it in a Sirius sports station but not sure which one.

Well for sure you know they are going to have to make a move soon because recruiting is going to start heating up again and We'll need to have our new coach in place and ready to start rocking and rolling.

When you think think things can’t get worse, they do, for UT athletics. It’s painful and frustrating to see my alma mater embarrass itself. The administration is ridiculously incompetent imo. We went they turmoil in 2017 and staring the abyss in the face once agn.

I thought Pruitt would be back next season but who knows. Apparently he and Fulmer’s future @ UT is in the hands of the powers to be beyond athletic dept.

Who knows how long the hired law firm will take to give its findings but it shouldn’t take this long.


I feel bad for the players and the student body as successful athletics adds to the college experience and improves the school’s overall academics and enrollment numbers.

Hopefully we will receive a resolution soon and move forward.

Those in charge don't answer to us.

Traditionally, in Tennessee, we've assumed the UT admins, boosters, etc have been VFL, committed to the tradition of having a competitive and winning football program. This no longer seems to be the case. Their hiring, coaching searches, and contract extensions/buyouts have been...... less than optimal for a successful program.

Why? I have no idea. I can only look at over a decade of mismanagement and be sad.

So, like any professional sport, college ball is now only the purview of wealthy oligarchs. I think I’ve known this a long time, but it’s fun to type out the whole thought.

The biggest issue appears to be that our oligarchs either can’t get on the same page, or can’t find their collective arses with both hands.

Sad times, indeed brother!

Or if it drags out too long and they fire Pruitt with cause, promote Chaney or Osovet as interim HC if they can't make a home run hire.

Well before Beldar was hired Chris Low had Tee Martin as one of the 2 possible HCs ( other one was Steele )

Oligarchy controls lots of things because Bob Dylan had it right in 1964: Money doesn't talk, it swears.

Watching Jerry Jones burn it down with his own money tells me wealth doesn't mean intelligence, good judgment, and common sense at least when it comes to sports.

Sadly, the money/power running UT Athletics is divided, distracted, and/or just plain dumb. I think all of us at VN, despite differences, are sad...... and sadly, completely powerless.

No matter who is going to be hired......I’ll be giddy like Christmas morning once Pruitt is fired.

I’ll start my complaining once the actually hire someone else...........maybe not.......probably so.

In all seriousness.....I’m hopeful for better times (May have to have patience yet again if the NCAA hates us).......we’ll see.

If you're hiring an elite proven performer, there can be a good reason to give high guaranteed buyout money as long as it's offset by the buy out money they would be required to pay to leave. The likelihood of elite success is really high in that case, mitigating the risk.

Where college football has a major problem is when they hand out one-sided guaranteed contracts to unproven coaches where the risk of failure is very high. Then, predictably, they get burned and repeat the cycle. This handcuffs the program financially and tends to keep them mired down. Changing the way contracts are done will help achieve parity which would make the sport better.
