Its over [hiring pause]

Awesome. They will pause until we can’t recruit portal transfers or hire a good coach.

If this were Bama, UF, or LSU the investigation would have been done two weeks ago.
They aren’t just sitting there twiddling their thumbs. They’re trying to build a case to fire for cause. They can’t just do that wantonly because if Pruitt sued them and won in court, they could be ordered to pay MORE than the original buyout under treble damages. They need to ensure all their ducks are in a row before they pull the trigger.

Its not looking good for him. But honestly, it isn't for us either. If there were violations then there will probably be sanctions imposed. So a new coach will have his hands tied a bit depending on the kind of sanctions that come down.
Probably just a toilet bowl ban and scholarship limitations.

Hiring Freeze lol. If they fire Pruitt they are not hiring Freeze. Not with UT the NCAA breathing down their necks. Feels like Fulmer as intern for 2021.
The thread title says they are instituting a hiring freeze, not that they are hiring Hugh Freeze. (It could probably stand to be clarified better though.)

This is an inside job and I actually feel sorry for Pruitt. The man was obviously handcuffed with having to play JG and as soon as he benches him for good, this blows up. Too many people have their noses stuck in football for it to be successful. No top tier coach will ever come here due to interference from outsiders. I think Pruitt kept his mouth shut and collected his salary until he couldn't take it anymore. When he plays the qb he wants to and tries to win, the rug is yanked out from under him. It would have been nice to see what he could have done if he were left alone.

It's pretty obvious that Neids contract will be allowed to expire at the end of this month and he will not be renewed. So he won't cost us cash on hand. He'll just be sent walking under threat of lawsuit if he refuses to cooperate with investigations. He'll take an NFL job and then give the NCAA the bird and never talk to them again.

If they allow Pruitt to get that $200K retention bonus in February, it will show that our leadership is just a dumb as ever.

Tee's contract is up at the end of the month, so he will take another job somewhere in the next week or so.

He was never meant to be a headcoach there are a ton of good assistant coaches that never could make the jump to be good head coaches. It was a risky and bad hire from the start JG or not Pruitt was never gonna to succeed here and rebuild the mess Butch left.

Is anyone shocked by this? Wasn’t ATLVOL hinting (maybe even directly stating) that money was changing hands?

To add to my above post, Fulmer will insert himself as interim coach while an "exhaustive search" goes on for a replacement. He won't be able to find anyone, because he won't be looking and he will be back on the sidelines next fall. Until people show their displeasure with their wallets this crap will go on forever.

Texas might be the easiest program to win at in all of D1 and he couldn’t get it done. NO

They also have an extremely jacked up booster situation like us (Instead of us not having alignment with our 3-5 biggest boosters), they have dozens of big boosters who need to be coddled/going in different directions.

Would be a major upgrade to Pruitt, and I don’t care that Texas fired him.
I agree he's an upgrade.

The writing is on the wall here boys and it all comes down to $$$

edit: btw this is not my choice, but the stars aligning for this

Not that I want Herman but considering how when defending the Pruitts and Dooleys and Jones people pull out Majors, Saban, and Dabo, I'll pull out that the Browns fired Bill Belichick and then he went on to do absolutely nothing in the NFL.

* not a serious post really, just stirring the pot.

I think he's the best available, but I agree. Tennessee doesn't care about winning anymore. Just saving money by hiring bargain bin coaches. "Sigh"
If you think they’re going to fire a coach for NCAA violations to replace him with a coach with 15 Level 1 violations on his record, I don’t know what to tell you.

I’m not sure about this anymore. Yes there’s a ton of HS talent in that state, but also a ton of competition from programs like A&M, OU, LSU, Bama, etc.

Not mention TCU, Tech, or Baylor all competing for highly rated recruits and diamonds in the rough.
