Johnny Majors would have been fired after his first four years; if he coached during this time.
Johnny caught "lightning in a bottle" with Tony Dorsett..Listen, Majors was a NC winning coach when he came here.
Pruitt has never been a HC.
I can guarantee you that if we would have hired someone like Jimbo Fisher, he would be given more time than 4 years.
UT just likes hiring loser coaches.
Since Fulmer was fired, we have only hired one coach that had a winning record before coming here.
Let that sink in.
Coaching search...AD promises the world. We hire an up and coming "rising star". It is beaten into us the new coach has a good pedigree or coached under a great coach. Great recruiter, players love him. He wants to be here and that's what is important.
Then the wins don't come, recruiting busts, player issues abound, and the dumpster fire reignites.
Then, we do it all over again.

It doesn't matter. You could say the same thing about Jimbo and Jameis Winston.
I've seen many bad coaches squander good talent.
All I'm saying is to not compare a NC winning coach with a HC that has zero experience.
Surely you see the difference?
Johnny Majors was my favorite UT coach. Loved his after-game locker room interview. But, Johnny never got UT to the "promise land." Very close in some seasons; but no "cigar." And frankly, Johnny's winning percentage was OK, but not that great. His teams lost some "stinkers" in those early year. But he was my all-time favorite coach. It doesn't matter. Does anyone think the next coaching search will end any better?
He is becoming that way to me. The last of the old school „gentlemen“ coaches. Sportscoat and tie but no nonsense when it came to the game of football. They were THE Coach and you knew it.Johnny Majors was my favorite UT coach. Loved his after-game locker room interview. But, Johnny never got UT to the "promise land."
