A resume is exactly that...an embodiment of your work, experience, success, etc. You don't get penalized on a resume because you have worked for very successful people. The little sisters thing maybe has some merit to it...but probably not....we didn't hire "he or she"... we hired a football coach with a great resume....but only time will tell. What resume????? Winning with Saban? Winning one year with Jimbo. You could put the DC for the Little Sisters of the Poor in with Saban and "he or she" would look great. What did Pruitt do at GA without Daddy Saban oh yeah Butch Jones beat him 2 years straight. What has Fulmer ever done as an AD other than give Barnes what he rightfully deserved? Nothing. What did Fulmer do as a " consultant at ETSU? Nothing. He hired Carl Torbush as the coach? Really. So Fulmers most recent hires including Clawson have all been busts. Its time to take off the orange colored glasses and get real.

Don't fault Pruitt because we hired Jones and Dooley. Never should've happenedCoaching search...AD promises the world. We hire an up and coming "rising star". It is beaten into us the new coach has a good pedigree or coached under a great coach. Great recruiter, players love him. He wants to be here and that's what is important.
Then the wins don't come, recruiting busts, player issues abound, and the dumpster fire reignites.
Then, we do it all over again.
I'm 29. I remember the 98 season but not much before that. I forgot Majors had won a NC before coming here. My bad.I'm going out on a limb and guessing you have not been following the Vols for very long? Johnny Majors had a national championship under his belt when we hired him. He also had several years of HC experience.
As much as he was a loathsome human being, even the guy down at Florida Atlantic had a better resume, in terms of head coaching experience (because he had some), than Pruitt when he was hired here. That doesn't mean Pruitt can't get it done; but your statement is somewhat insupportable.

Meyer led Utah to an undefeated season. Bill Snyder almost won a title at K state. No excuses. The coaches that end up being considered legendary may achieve that level by picking their spots as much as anything else. Saban cherry-picked the Bama position knowing that his potential success would be greater there than almost all other places. Stoops pounced on the Oklahoma opening. Urban Meyer picked schools that recruit themselves. Dabo is an outlier, though Clemson has been solid historically. No one gets more international support than Kelly's Notre Dame program. The pipe dream that Pruitt will have anything much beyond .500 success at a run-down program that was never that great to begin with (pre-integration does not count because recruits don't care) is predicated on TN being elite. That has never been true. 7-5 in a good year will have to satisfy the various stakeholders, but at least there's the Vol Navy.
This is inaccurate on so many levels that it hardly warrants replying to. First you discard multiple decades just because, shockingly, suddenly in this day and age eighteen-year-olds are only eighteen and weren't alive fifty years ago; by this logic Miami, Nebraska, USC, and Texas are total irrelevant failures as football programs. Then you conveniently ignore (another word for it would be omit, another word would be lie) the '90's and early 2000's, in which we were as elite as elite gets. The coaches that end up being considered legendary may achieve that level by picking their spots as much as anything else. Pruitt checks off the right boxes. As far as talent he’s recruited, outside of maybe Peterson, I don’t recall a bust. Player issues are coming from guys from the previous staff with the exception of a handful IMO. Wins will come they just aren’t going to come as quickly as some think.
