It's Les Miles

Les can recruit his ass off. I say bring him in. It would be a home run hire if we could get Tee to come in as OC and coach in waiting.

Is Les gonna let Tee only call plays on first and second down like he does now at USC?

Find me one contract lawyer who will go on record and say that an MOU missing two signatures carries the same weight and consequence as a fully executed employment contract.

You act like UT legal counsel is just going to roll over because a sports analyst said they will owe Schiano money.

Still have beer left so, be diligent in that search.

BV you’re not going to be able to give this guy three years of law school education in this thread. May as well give up. The MOU issue is a non-starter if not fully executed as has been reported.

What makes him suck?? Was his last couple years that great? no, but overall the guy can coach. Sometimes coaches just need a change or some time off to sit back and figure things out. I think Les will do just fine here.

7-5, or 8-4 would be his average

I will happily take Les Miles.........only reason why LSU fired him was because he couldn't beat Saban. Only two coaches that I can think of have been able to beat him more than once, Gus M. and Hugh Freeze.

Miles is a proven winner with Championships under his belt. I would take him in two seconds.

There were more aspects of it of which you may not be aware. Miles ran the most unimaginative offense ever. The only reason he did not get fired at end of 2015 was that he had kissed up to the governor who stepped in. Miles swore he would do better and a new offense would be seen the next season. But ... it was same ole, same ole. And in recruiting, he was just going thru the motions, at the last. In a press conference, he would never give a straight answer, just mealy-mouthed jabber. There is a reason that no other schools have snatched him up in the last 15 months. You do not want Miles.

That has not been the opinion of lawyers consulted by various reporters about the MOU. The ONLY sources saying UT won't be financially responsible are those employed by UT. It won't go to court. We'll settle. 4 to 5 million is the consensus.

Take it out of what we owe Currie it's his botch up

I'm just telling you what is out there. I don't know either way. Most journalists including Hyams who like him or not is the top reporter covering UT sports at the main sports station in Knoxville is saying 4 to 5 million. The contract was for 5 or 6 years at 4.6 million per year. Will UT risk paying the full amount or settle? Won't the hearing be in Ohio? Judges have made stranger decisions than awarding Schiano the whole amount.

At this point I just want to read whatever it is that has him convinced that we have to pay Schiano, as if he was hired and then fired without cause. So far he has only been able to reference Jimmy Hyams, as a vague "media consensus."

We won't owe Schiano anything. He is not willing to pursue a case beyond mitigation, and UT will smartly refuse to negotiate outside of court. Schiano does NOT want to go into discovery in preparation for a court case; too many ways for things to turn sideways on him there.

So we'll probably offer him five figures (say, $40,000) to go away, and he'll eventually take it. That will be the end of Schiano.

Meanwhile, we will owe Currie absolutely $0. Fired for cause.

We're fine, financially.

If we have to settle for Les Miles, it won't be because of money.

Again, show me anything, even talking heads stating that there is a "media consensus" that UT will owe Schiano millions in compensation for not executing an MOU.

I'll take that in lieu of a single contract lawyer who will go on record as to say that a partially-signed MOU carries the same weight and consequence as a fully executed employment contract.

Who knows if 247's sources are worth anything but they are saying Les Miles has been contacted. I can dig it if he has they right OC...

If he reached out, Les probably accepted before Fulmer could finish. Les with Tee and sprinkle in some Steele and I'm down

I dont believe the report, but we could do worse. Let Miles be Miles and motivate/recruit and be CEO/HC and let the coordinators do their jobs. After a few years, Tee takes over. Profit.

I could see Les being more open to having a OC dictated to him than most coaches. This would definitely be the best opportunity for him to get back in and at a big program..

And just think Michigan really wanted him a few years ago and he stayed at LSU... Maybe Jimbo is the smartest coach in football.

Les is 64 years old and garnered no meaningful interest from any program for over a year.

If Fulmer pulls this, he is dumber than I thought he was.
