Your job is to sell the product and up-sell the warranty. Of course you don't tell someone it will last 10 years.

my wife broke 4 of my phones ... 4!
dropped my iphone and cracked it, lost my blackberry, dropped my other in the toilet, and dropped the other.
im not saying you have to buy a warranty, but people like you who shoot it down are the people who call a year and half out... some up to 3 years out and give us hell because we cant guarantee it will work that long.
No. People like me roll the dice and take care of what I buy the best way I can. If the factory warranty expires and my TV blows up, I go buy a new one.

and that's fine, but not everyone is like that... they expect us to replace it or fix it for free... if you understand the risk that's one thing... but to tell me buying them is completely pointless, than that's moronic.
ive been selling tvs for 5 years, ill agree with you that some tvs are so cheap now, i wouldnt buy them either... but the 2k plus... im considering it.

i almost bought a 3d tv off hype then i tried the glasses on and couldnt really see anything that impressive. was looking for more.
