It just got more expensive to storm the field

I’m fairly certain Vanderbilt and Arkansas paid us more than we paid Bama on 2024-25. Factor in some new goal posts and we probably broke even.

Maybe if we beat Georgia in 2025, we allow Kentucky to storm their field to erase the deficit?

They are probably afraid a Bama player with pads on will make aggressive contact with a girl and it would look bad for the SEC and additionally the player would have to be suspended for the rest of the season. Wait…

Coming soon: a postgame, on-field value added upsell for your ticket. Proceed in an orderly fashion to the nearest usher five minutes after the end of regulation.

If we were to beat Georgia on a game winning situation as time expires then nobody should have a problem with a field storming. What they should do in general, is put a timer on the field that would give whoever wanted to exit time to leave and then let whoever wants to storm the field have at it.
I agree, Clemson does it every game

We aren't the caliber of program that needs to be storming the field anyway.

I think there's always situations that warrant it. Last minute/miraculous victories against like a top 5, maybe top 10 opponent. I thought rushing against Alabama in 2022 was the perfect example. An improbable victory with some last minute heroics and a knuckleball going through the uprights. Rushing the field in 2024 was pretty cheesy imo but I hate to sound like a hater also. I think most people that purchased tix went to that game with the intention to rush if we won bc it looked fun 2 years prior.

If the Dobbs to Jennings hail mary happened in Knoxville against a top 10 UGA I think that's a perfect time to rush. The kick six at Auburn is the best example ever. I guess imo there should be last minute heroics against a very good opponent. I thought Arkansas rushing after beating us was dumb. Vandy "rushing" after beating Bama I could maybe see but that game was not in doubt in the 4Q.

I agree fans really should not storm the field. But if the players are gone, then whatever. Leave the goalposts alone for crying out loud. I can see uga planting poison ivy in the hedge.

These desiccated old men, who have lost all joy in life, sit behind their desks and try to make sure young men are as miserable as they are.

The animal spirits need to be let loose from time to time or what is a life for?

If you don't let them out in wholesome ways, like storming a field after a much desired victory, then they will come out in less wholesome ways in some other venue.

And I maintain it is far more dangerous to try to hold back a crowd than to just let them through. The crowd doesn't pay the fine so there is zero incentive there for them to not rush the field anyway. All this does is create incentives to put people in their path and create more injuries than there would otherwise be.
There is a substantial potential for jail time now. Could be considered assault on a police officer, or security official, I you force your way past them. The fans rushed the field a few times when I was in school, but that was a VERY different time. Not as many people looking to sue at the drop of a hat.

True, but if we do storm one the university can pony it up. 500k is couch money.

They are doing everything possible to remove the passion from college sports. And they are succeeding.

I agree except Vandy is Vandy. They had never beaten a top 5 opponent.

Does this count as a revenue stream? And if so, is it equally distributed among the member institutions ?

This is stupid. The kids don’t care how much the fine is, they’re gonna storm the field.
Then at some point you revoke student tickets…fans belong in the stands and it’s the responsibility of the school administration to take action to prevent fans from storming the fields….I prefer punishing the team. Storm the field against and SEC opponent and forfeit your next home SEC game.

Note - someone already brought up and criticized Burton for his action following the 2022 game. It would have never happened if fans had stayed off the field. You want to allow fans on the field? Fine, allow 10-15 minutes for the opposing team to clear the field and be in their locker room…

Field storming is for schools such as Vanderbilt, Boston College and Northwestern. You know the brainiac schools..

Stupid.

It's just all a scam under the pretense of player safety and wellbeing, but the money should be directed to something practical. It should get donated or be used to actually benefit something. It's not like these giant public institutions are strapped for cash.
