It is time to consider revoking Vol Fan Cards

Cool! How about a test? Same for voting privileges. You have to pass a test to vote or to comment on the Football Forum on Volnation. A different test of course.......

The low knowledge lunatic fringe of our fanbase is reaching critcal mass. I really think we need to think about excommunicating many of these "VFLs" from our midst. We will start with nominations followed by a second. Candidates will be voted on in another thread.

Any nominations?

You would be that guy on the Titanic who felt everything was still fine even as the ship was sinking into the ocean.

I use the ignore choice. In fact my ignore list is extensive; however, you guys constantly quote in a message and I am forced to see it. In the future I have decided to ignore you too. I am a VFL

Heh, PhilBerry, as appetizing as this might initially sound, we can't do it.

We're all Vols. Well, except for the handful of Gators, two or three Dawgs who magically disappear for a few months after we beat them each year, two Wildcats, and a smattering of transients who pop in from time to time. Put them aside, and we're all Vols. The good, the bad, the ugly, and NationDom. Not calling NationDom beyond bad or anything, he's just you know, in a category all his own. He's unique. :)

And that's why we can't do it. You can't excommunicate your weird uncle Bert, the one who shows up at Christmas, in the blizzard, riding a Harley and wearing a hand-made aluminum foil hat as a helmet, with Mexican refried beans as his side dish. Bert may be a certified lunatic, but he's still family.

And that's how it is here. We're all family. Even the ones whose viewpoints are so totally out of whack with yours that you can't imagine ever agreeing with them on anything. Pick a name. Yeah, that guy, the really negative one. He's still a good old boy, a Vol fan, just one who revels in pushing things others value off a cliff.

Now, I personally am tempted to make one huge exception to this rule: D4H. He is clearly not a Volunteers fan. He has admitted so himself. He has wished ill on our team, both coaches and players. So for me personally, D4H has ceased to exist as an active voice on the board. But he still has the right to show up, and some people still respond to him.

Just one big old, dysfunctional, semi-insane family.

I like my tin foil hat! You don't have one? Make one for you I can!

If we have to replace a bunch of assistants, the football program is a sinking ship.

Nothing wrong with talking about uniforms. Funny that everybody that complains about uniform threads shows up posting in uniform threads.

I don't know Orange. A bunch of mostly grown men discussing what pants and shirts to wear has always seems a bit 'odd' to me. But I support your right to do it.

:good!:

I entered this thread hoping to see an Anchorman level street fight forming outside of Gate 21.

Instead it's pretty much ado about nothing.

The OP sucks on multiple levels it seems.

News flash. Tennessee doesn't put up with mediocrity.

Fans like OP would still like to have Dooley around.

Not true. Just because some UT fans support their coach, doesn't mean we're wanting to put up with mediocrity. If Butch wins out this season, it would make zero sense to fire him after this year. If he happens to lose the rest of his games then that's a totally different story.

So if he goes 1-4 against SC, Tech, UK, Mizzou, and Vandy you would still have him coming back.

He's not losing out with Tech on the schedule. If he lost that one he should be bounced before he gets to the post game hand shake.

Read my post again. I said, "If Butch wins out this season, it would make zero sense to fire him. If Butch loses the rest of his games then that's a totally different story." Meaning I'd have second thoughts of wanting him to come beck next year.
