I agree with this.

Unfortunately it's our destiny as a nation.

One of the reasons why the world hates us so much and why they owe us so much.

American taxpayers almost singlehandedly keep the rest of the world afloat, yet they yell at us constantly.

This goes back to my post a couple weeks ago about how to get out of our debt. Just pull the American taxpayer insurance policy for world trade (the US Navy) and watch the wars begin again. Meanwhile, we just sit back and watch and negate our foreign debt. Swoop in last minute to look like the good guys, and wah-la! Problem solved!

yea man. Haliburton execs were like lets start a war so we can go to Iran, deal with a bunch of wackjobs and get paid in a worthless currency or let's go to North Dakota get paid in Dollars and deal with Republican farmers & ranchers. Hmmm. Decisions Decisions

YOUR point was bad American foreign policy, not Abraham, and that is why I answered the way that I did. I am defending Dick Cheney, not from a political standpoint, but from the perspective of a good friend of mine who knows him well.

I believe that there are forces way bigger than Barack Obama and Dick Cheney that define our foreign policy. They merely carry it out.

I agree with you on that. There are grave forces that are often beyond our control, and I will hold you from here on out to that comment when it comes to your thoughts about Obama and foreign policy.

And I don't know who your friend is, but I would advise him to run away and very fast from Dick Cheney. Trouble follows that man, just like it does George Zimmerman.

I wouldn't be so sure that I am that much of a "social conservative" if I were you, although they have a right to their beliefs.

I don't think that they are close, or see each other that often, but they did work together. The man was a close friend of mine while we were students at U.T. He knows all the movers and shakers in D.C. and once gave me a tour of the Senate Office Bldg and the White House.

I'm probably reading far too much into this, but I think I may have very briefly dated (like one or two dates) this friend of yours daughter. Back when I first got here and was early to mid-20s.

The connection to Dick Cheney was far too close though, so that was pretty much it for me.

Nothing against the girl. She was sweet, or at least seemed to be.

He hasn't lived in Knoxville in over 40 years. He does have 3 daughters, but I have no idea where they live, or have lived. The daughters grew up in Maryland, just outside D.C.

Halliburton made a ton of money on military contracts. It wouldnt be just about oil if volprof is correct. And there would have been many more stakeholders in addition to Cheney.
