ISIS Takes Control of Mosul

You are apparently not as well versed as you pretend to be in American foreign policy. What about Operation Ajax in Iran in 1953, during the Eisenhower administration? How about Truman breaking FDR's 1945 promise to the Arabs to include them in any agreement concerning the implementation of the Balfour Declaration of 1917?

Iraq would have never been a problem without these 2 events, precipitated by, if not directly caused, by the 2 world wars. Every administration since those 2 fatal mistakes have been dealing with the consequences.

Had it not been for Abraham, the Middle East would never have been as crazy as it was.

What's your point? Ad infinitum?

We get it. You're a social conservative so you have to defend Dick Cheney to the very dirty end by contract obligation.

I'm just done with this whole liberal v. conservative nonsense. Especially what's propagated here.

why would Haliburton want to go to Iran when they can go to North Dakota and get way more business. The Bakken field alone produces more than Iran. The Eagle Ford shale in Haliburtons backyard produces more than Iran. Lol at your theory

I know you just got a cheap thrill from a cheap VolNation orgasm post, but international oil reserves suggest differently.

Stop messing with your VolNation tally-wacker and actually read something for a change.

Oh, you poor uncultured heathen.

World trade would almost grind to a halt if our Navy wasn't out keeping the shipping lanes open and relatively pirate free.

I agree with this.

Unfortunately it's our destiny as a nation.

One of the reasons why the world hates us so much and why they owe us so much.

American taxpayers almost singlehandedly keep the rest of the world afloat, yet they yell at us constantly.

This goes back to my post a couple weeks ago about how to get out of our debt. Just pull the American taxpayer insurance policy for world trade (the US Navy) and watch the wars begin again. Meanwhile, we just sit back and watch and negate our foreign debt. Swoop in last minute to look like the good guys, and wah-la! Problem solved!

YOUR point was bad American foreign policy, not Abraham, and that is why I answered the way that I did. I am defending Dick Cheney, not from a political standpoint, but from the perspective of a good friend of mine who knows him well.

I believe that there are forces way bigger than Barack Obama and Dick Cheney that define our foreign policy. They merely carry it out.

Fracking was pretty popular in 2002-03, huh?

I agree with you on that. There are grave forces that are often beyond our control, and I will hold you from here on out to that comment when it comes to your thoughts about Obama and foreign policy.

And I don't know who your friend is, but I would advise him to run away and very fast from Dick Cheney. Trouble follows that man, just like it does George Zimmerman.

I wouldn't be so sure that I am that much of a "social conservative" if I were you, although they have a right to their beliefs.

I don't think that they are close, or see each other that often, but they did work together. The man was a close friend of mine while we were students at U.T. He knows all the movers and shakers in D.C. and once gave me a tour of the Senate Office Bldg and the White House.

I'm probably reading far too much into this, but I think I may have very briefly dated (like one or two dates) this friend of yours daughter. Back when I first got here and was early to mid-20s.

The connection to Dick Cheney was far too close though, so that was pretty much it for me.

Nothing against the girl. She was sweet, or at least seemed to be.

I'm no fracking expert, but I read that it was first tried in Kansas in 1947, and the first successful commercial operation was in 1950.

I'm not either, but all I know is I didn't here about it on such a mass scale until the mid to late 2000s.

He hasn't lived in Knoxville in over 40 years. He does have 3 daughters, but I have no idea where they live, or have lived. The daughters grew up in Maryland, just outside D.C.

Okay, probably not him then. This young lady came from Houston.

No, that's just when the environmental lobby started whining about it.

And rightfully so.

As I've always said (for like this one post), there's nothing like your water catching fire to make you appreciate the environment.

Until then, you don't really care, because you don't have to.

Halliburton made a ton of money on military contracts. It wouldnt be just about oil if volprof is correct. And there would have been many more stakeholders in addition to Cheney.

And how many competitors does Halliburton have that can provide all the services that they can? All administrations use them, and why not?
