Is this Phil saying Pruitt will be back?

He totally prepared that little sofa speech and had someone lob it to him on VOL Calls. Preach that "young team / patience / covid" crap to parents in living rooms. Not many are buying it here. Pruitt has shown us nothing to warrant his position.

Pruitt needs two more seasons at least. Remember this was always a 5 year rebuild let JP get his all recruits in first then by the 2023 season we can make a full judgment on Pruitt and if we need to continue to move forward with him as coach. Every coach should get a mulligan thus season with the covid issues that’s why it surprised me that SC and Vandy fired their coaches. We can’t fully judge Pruitt on this season alone I mean the team lost valuable spring practice time and we lost fall practice time as well in September. He may have to make some staff changes though this offseason a new DC and OC.

5 year rebuild......

But he is “regressing” not rebuilding.

You can’t make a “full judgement” based on body of work?

Seriously he has a 15-17 record, he has been blown out 12 times......that’s more than 1/3rd of the time (for all games)........very easily could be 14 blowout losses in a few weeks.

What “can’t” we judge right now?

Majors started coaching at Tennessee in 1977. 1981 would have been his 5th season.

Read my post.
Phil was comparing first 3 seasons.
I know but to not talk about the WHOLE story of Major's rebuilding is to do disservice to the discussion....When we lost to UGA and USC by so much and then later lost to UVA at homecoming, Majors was on the hot seat big time

if we are better than a 2-5 team... then regardless of the other team scoring more...why haven't we looked better on the field than a 2-5 team Dr. Phil
because of QB play...even a B+ effort from a QB every game and we are 5-2, probably 6-1

How?
Seriously?

Phil compared “first three seasons.”
Then I made a comment....”only” about the first 3 seasons.

I showed in my comment that each coach had “different”.....first 3 seasons.

Majors improved every year, Pruitt did not.
Majors teams were more competitive and didn’t get blown out.......like Pruitt’s did/does.

Then you reply that I might want to check 1981.

I also stated Majors “wasn’t coaching the lights out”.......cause he wasn’t. In fact I (just me personally) think Majors was an extremely inconsistent coach......or at least his teams were.

Just trying to show that Pruitt and Majors ARE NOT on the same path in their first 3 years. That’s all I can really go by in “comparison” as Pruitt has not coached further yet.

I like Pruitt. I like the kids he recruits and the talent he has assembled in 2.5 recruiting cycles (love next year’s class, too). I think QB and lack of talent/depth has held him back.

Hope they right the ship next year with HB at the helm and he shuts up all the know-it-all internet armchair coaches...especially that dumbass coward, Chip.

Tennessee has seen way worse than the Pruitt years. Winless in the sec has never occurred under Pruitt’s watch

You keep saying that but repeating something over and over doesn’t magically make it true. You do realize other teams make mistakes, too? So, if we get to throw hypothetical situations out there then so do they. What would the UK score have been if they had a qb that could stretch the field? What would the UGA score have been with Fields at qb instead of a walk-on?

Because it is true....look at the games we played...if JG plays better and doesnt turn the ball over, we would definitely had won Arky and Auburn games and probably UK too with a very outside shot of hanging on against UGA.

His play directly led to each loss. More than defense, or tackling, or running, or even special teams

Pruitt is still playing with B.tches players. He doesn't have his full roster of his own yet so the jury IMHO is still out. I like a lot of the younger guys on this team that JP has recruited. It's time to see them play!

The day Pruitt renewed their scholarships they became Pruitt's players. Besides by the record it looks like Pruitt did better when the roster was mostly Butch's guys.

A lot of the younger guys have not played much yet. I think we see that change Saturday.

I once heard a wise man say "on any issue - once the emotion wears away and calm is restored the realistic truth begins to emerge and looks NOTHING like the debate at it's fever pitch"! I CLEARLY think that's where we are with this issue. The crescendo of emotionalism has been building for some time (losses have a way of doing that) and some of the things said on this board have been beyond embarrassing (at least for me as a man). I am still a 55 year long Vol fan and have been through a lot of this "emotionalism" over the years. To some it seems Life or Death. FWIW...IT AINT!!

I'm actually happy that all of you get your panties bunched up when someone associated with the program says something completely predictable, and frankly, perfectly reasonable. It's become comical... bunch of candy-asses.

What’s comical is that he can sell that 2-and-5 load of crap and folks like you will buy it.

I wonder what his enlightening line will be when we are still stuck on 2 wins when this season mercifully ends?
