Is there REALLY a BIG Orange Curse????

It's called the curse of David Cutcliff. It all started with our offense. For most part of the last decade we could put a some what good defense on the field but the offense was just never what it should have been with out him. To think of it if Chaney would have arrived a year earlier Fulmer might have been saved.

Sitting here watching the 30 for 30 special on Steve Bartman and the curse of the Cubs. And over the last 12 or 13 years UT has been cursed Imo. Bad omen's etc. Heres a list of things that come to mind. John Ward retiring, the jumbo tron, a female drum major, the orange BRITCHES in the '07 SECCG, Sanders, Dave Clawson, The phantom catch by Gaffney.... What are a few things that y'all think that has cursed UT.

You.

The end of the half where Fresher Ainge got hurt against ND.

It was the butterfly wings that created a tsunami.

Please delete this thread. Some of our fans have low self-esteem to be posting this type of crap. We have won 3 Eastern Division titles in the past 10 years and are a couple games from having top ten seasons (2003 and 2004 quickly come to mind). The past 12 years haven't been that bad, it's really only the past three (and 2005). Things are looking up, start acting like a man and stop posting childish crap.

Remember the 2001 year we finished top 5 and that was a great year despite the LSU loss, also really enjoyed 2003 and 2004 despite the terrible Clemson loss in 03. We would have been top 5 if we won that game, instead we finished 15 and 12 respectively, which are not bad seasons. With 12 games now being played and dominate UF and Bama programs, 2 loss seasons will be hard to come by in the future.

Threads that blame the deterioration of the program on magic.

Every great cfb program has (ups and downs) look at our entire history on wikipedia and also other top programs history. We are just down right now i honestly believe we will be back on top, depending on how far the media and ncaa changes the history and landscape of cfb: With all the talks of super conf. And playoffs....time will tell, but i will be all vol till death

I can hardly say it, bit did our decline coincide with the launch of VolNation? Gasp!

Things that have cursed UT, and not in any particular order:

Sports Illustrated
ESPN
Lane Kiffin

THink about it......

In the past 12 months....

> Bruce Pearl is fired over what would have been a secondary violation if only the attorney handling the NCAA case for UT had provided the informtion about the photograph BEFORE Pearl and his assistants met with the NCAA...
> Mike Hamilton has the audacity to bring up that Pearl will basically be fired after the season the DAY before the first round of the NCAA tourney..
> Pat Summit is diagnosed with dimentia at the age of 51
> Herman Lathers (arguably our best returning defensive player) is injured in the Spring and has to have screws inserted ito his ankle and misses the majority of the season...
> Janzen Jackson, arguably a first round NFL Draft Pick (if he could stay clesn), gets kicked off the team a couple of weeks before the season starts....
> Justin Hunter, arguably our best offensive weapon, tears an ACL in a non-contact play the 3rd play of the FL game....
> Tyler Bray, the best QB we have had since you know who, breaks his thumb by hitting a defender's helmet
> Tauren Poole, our best RB , pulls a hamstring in the first half of the GA game...
> In the GA game, 2 pass interference calls are made by a line judge (Al Mathews) after the back judge had ruled an incomplete pass. BTW, Al Mathews is the same ref that Philip Fulmer had banned from officiating any games in Neyland Stadium due to several missed calls against Tenn. against FL in 200?.

What can happen next next????

I was standing in the stadium last night thinking the same thing as Bray came off the field.

Bad Mojo that Kiffin left with us is all I can figure. Last year it was 2 crazy endings to games. This year it's been injury and discipline losses.
That isn't counting the non-football stuff.

I believe Pat Summitt is 59, not 51. And it's dementia, but even 59 seems far too young.

It appears we are cursed. I believe we have had some bad luck with injuries/dismissals this year, just like every SEC team. The huge problem with us is that we don't have anyone that can play sitting behind our starters. Every injury is magnified.

I loved Pearl as our coach, but hated what our team had become. Alot of people forget that before the Elite 8 run, we were an underachieving team for the better part of the year. We just got hot at the right time. I'll say that the best years of Pearl were behind him, and everyone would've turned on him after we quit making NCAA tourneys. This and we still don't know how Coach Martin will do.

Nothing I can say for the Pat situation but that coaches are human just like all of us are. All we can do is pray for her that she can deal with her illness, and stand behind her.

Only if your name is clay travis. Bad things happen, good things happen. Its just life. Keep thinking bad an it will happen. Think positive an be positive!
