Is the program done for good

Its nit whining. Its stating opinions and frustration with the continuance of oir once great football program being completely flushed down the toilet before our very eyes.
Yup. Hard to live and die hard for any team that doesn’t show any fire or desire to win and just mails it in.

Doesn’t mean you don’t have optimism either. Do you go into every season saying “well we’re going to suck again.” No. Because you think this team might use some of those millions of dollars they spend on getting better. There was no evidence of that today at all. You may call it “whining,” but criticism at this point is warranted.
I’m all for criticism if it’s not to the point where it evolves into whining. Like here’s my criticism: This coaching staff used today’s game as a scrimmage basically. They played as many players as possible with no real game plan and very basic play calling. They had no counter to Ga St because they were unprepared. Talent alone is what they hung their hat on for a game plan. That backfired and now we walk away with our tails between our legs. Instead of having a clear cut GP and putting the game away early we screwed around playing as many players as possible which never allowed for any unit on this team to find cohesion. Next week we ought to define starters on both sides of the ball, open up the playbook and actually scheme based off what BYU has shown so far.

This is what was running through my head all game long. If I posted that I knew I was gonna get grilled for it. Still goes to show that we can't rely on just talent one rn. Gotta coach the freshmen up

Quit whining

Talent only gets you so far. I mean that was about a vanilla of an offensive playbook as I’ve seen since Mike Deboard was the OC. We just didn’t have the correct preparation, especially on defense. Ansley genuinely looked confused because he had no idea what Ga St was gonna run at any point today. He was just praying he made the right calls. It cost us the game. We may have only put up 30 but we should have never allowed Ga St more than 7. This defensive coaching staff was out coached plain and simple.

I've lost that loving feeling. Tired of paying donations for tickets with these results. My sons are now grown men and do not know what Tennessee Football once was. I use to be hoarse after every game but now there is nothing to holler about. We can't afford another change so JP needs to get this figured out and soon.

I know it’s been said, but I never really got it until today. We have simply become the 1980s-2000s Vanderbilt before Franklin got there. No one expects us to beat them. Period. Gonna be embarrassing to only house 40-50k a game in a stadium that holds 102k. If decommits start happening, fans stop showing up, what’s gonna keep this program from shutting it down ?
The program won't shut down. Decisions like that would involve political considerations far away from Knoxville. But this loss is BIG. This is probably bigger than the Wyoming and North Texas State losses.
And no doubt Fulmer is rechecking his sums and keeping his own counsel while reassuring CJP of his support. But the lackluster, almost visibly apathetic field performance of our Vols today must have him as perplexed as we are.
Preparation, spirit, and execution beat us today. Nothing else is even remotely comparable between GSU and UT. But we brought, or showed, little of those three qualities today while our opponent brought them all. Just go back and examine and compare the atmosphere and energy evident on the two sidelines and you'll see why we lost. GSU dreamed they could win and they believed and worked today until that dream came true. That impetus for hope came from their coaches and especially the energetic style of their head coach.
CJP's leadership style is understated and even laconic. And that's okay as long as the team is prepared, hungry to win and fierce in in execution on game day. But they weren't. What we saw today was disappointing in every way. There was no vim, no chemical symbiosis, no leadership cross-talking to ensure success would build on success. Simply put, we didn't see a formed team, a moulded force, or a ready weapon led by a competent chief today.
Instead, we got another edition of the lethargic unprepared ineptitude we saw versus Missouri, Vanderbilt, and South Carolina last year. And sadly, it appears to be our "new normal."
C'mon Phil, time for some creative, non-linear thinking. This program is in trouble.

Done? Who knows? Done for the next decade? If this season goes the way of this game, more than likely.

Tennessee is caught in a vicious cycle that's been developed by egotistical coaches, too much booster involvement, lack of adminstrative consistency and backbone, botched coaching searches and hires. No one worth anything in any profession is going to want to get involved in that type of toxic environment. The only people that are attracted to that type of job environment are those looking for a stepping stone and/or a coordinator to head coach salary upgrade.

It's going to take awhile to treat the gangrene that is Tennessee football. Lose next Saturday, and Tennessee is looking down the barrel of 1-11.

Realistically could we get someone like Peterson or Patterson ?
No, the only way the program will ever get turned around is when the university is prepared to give someone a blank check. No coach that could turn this program around wants to play Florida, Georgia, Bama, and another SEC west team along with a solid to elite P5 team nearly every year with above average in state talent for 3-5 million a year

And with modern college ball the way it is, we also lose some prized underclassmen. I don't think Wright/Morris and To'oto'o are going to throw away promising college careers with UT's continued marriage to mediocrity.
Gray, Crouch, and Keyton likely leave also. Wouldn’t be surprised if Taylor transfers either

Start the players that want to be here..... if they don't want to play sign their transfers immediately and show them the door!!! I'd rather lose with all freshman giving 100% than watch some of the shat I saw today!!

I think everyone that played wants to be here. The problem is this fact alone doesn't correct the problem. We seem to have a bunch that don't play assignment football and don't have enough that show a passion and urgency to make a play now! If you can't do these things then you probably aren't the guy that us going to help move the team forward.

These coaches should be able to look at the tape and make those honest assessments. If they come back and don't have many changes next week then there's a problem because at the very least give someone at change. There's also a thing as non factor stats.

Some will feel like they've been wronged and want to pout and probably leave. The team just lost to Georgia State. This is UT, not Tennessee Wesleyan. There needs to be some serious changes and if guys don't want to man up or be good teammates then I'm not sure losing a few will hurt much. Some need to earn their positions back.
