Is the 2019 Version 20pts Better?

Title says 20pts, first post says 10pts for d. Hows a d score 10 points?
Not trying to bash the hype cause there is certainly some potential with the team, but what your asking cant really be proven. Every game and season is different. Are you asking if the team will score 20 ppg more than last year, on average?
The def would give up 10 less points.

Also, hate bring reality and stats into the conversation but if you added 20 points to every lose from last year, the only additional win would have been South Carolina.

NO REALLY? LOL. The 2019 schedule isn't the 2018 schedule; as far as I can tell. I looked at last year and projected this year's record based on being 20 points better. As Poorly as UT played for Most of the season; a 20 point improvement is not out of the question. And 8-4 is a real possibility; Vandy will be 10 points worse, SO, Add a W for SC and Vandy, and Byu isn't WV. So That's 3 more wins than last year. 8-4. Hmmmm.

But you cant prove any of that. Common theme for tennesse football the last decade, useless stats and what if scenarios used for preseason hype that has yet to produce a single result. Good luck on being right..

You are assuming that our 2019 opponents are in a vacuum, and don't have the capacity to improve upon their 2018 performances. If you aren't going to use the 2018 performance as a starting metric for Tennessee, why would you do so for our opponents?

Georgia will get Past Okla. I think they are on par with Clemson and Bama. They just haven't been able to beat bama; yet. I don't think Dabo would be in their heads like Saban. And Maybe Kirby just can't get over that last hurdle. It has happened before.
I think they were on par with them in 2017. In 2018 after they lost most of their offensive and defensive production they were too young. I think they're back up again this year and could beat Bama, but Trevor Lawrence and Clemson may be too much. Bama had a better defense than UGA last year and he picked them apart. This year is UGA's best chance considering Fromm most likely leaves for the NFL next year. Unless he gets injured or his draft stock falls it wouldn't be smart to pass up the money and come back to risk injury.

The scary reality, is that even with a 10 point swing on offense and defense, using the 2018 performances as a metric, we'd still only go 6-6 given that in all but one game we lost by 25+ points.
Yep. And that is why I have 6-6 as the floor.

NO. UK will be worse, (W) Miss St will be worse (W) South Car will be the same; TN will be 20 points better (Lost to them by 3, (W) GS (W regardless) BUY (W regardless) NOOGA ((W) regardless) UAB (W regardless) Vandy will be much worse (W) Thats 8 Kilroy.

MAN I can prove it. I just did. You musta missed it. It was all there; in Black & White. No luck needed.

This. Season can’t get here soon enough.

With the S&C improvements, the Influx of VERY Talented Freshmen on both sides of the ball, DEPTH, Pruitt settling in for his second year; Chaney, Ansley, and Tee upgrading the Staff, I can see Tennessee being 10 points better on D and Offense. (Possibly more midway through the season) This team is night and day from last year. I think we are looking at 8-4; minimum.

That would probably mean 4-4 in the SEC. Usually, it takes 28 points or more to win a SEC game. Are there 4 teams that UT can score 28 points on? The only game they did last season was the Auburn game, and that’s because the defense scored a TD. I don’t see it this season.

Ah I see, going back in time to the 90's 'we are Tennessee' reasoning.

This is why we play the games, everyone wants to act like they got the answers. We will find out the answers on the field. You can't base anything one way or the other on other years. Pruitt and staff have us going in the right direction, the results will be settled on the field. Not on this site before the games are played. It seems to really bother some folks that others are excited about what this team can get done this year. I am a UT fan and will always look forward to another season and this season is certainly no exception, win or lose I am a fan I can handle it. GBO, take the fight to em all year!!!!!

Man... you are very optimistic.

That’s not a bad thing but I just can’t imagine us doing better than 7-5. And honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we went 5-7. Pruitt has his work cut out for the next several years.

Yep. Vandy UK, MSU and SCAR. And likely Mizzou; although at ZOU will be a tough one. But UT will be much better by then. Im revising my prediction NOW to 9-3. By Damn. lol.

I have spelled it all out with With Logical Reasoning. Didn't even touch the Intangibles; such as The Best Coaching Staff; Revenge factor, OUR TIME ect ect. lol. JUST Revisit this thread at the end. 8-4. With 9-3 a possibility.

5-7?? You can't REALLY be considering that ?? If so, get a bet down on UT under 7 wins on the year! VEGAS Has it at 7.5. Bet your HOUSE!

Nope. Been here since 08. I would never allow anyone to receive credit for my Erstwhile contributions.
Right, VN is like groundhog day.....How many of these thread do you think were made before last season?....and the sesson before that?.....and the season before that?....and before.....well you get the picture.

Your 'logic', boils down to 'we will be better because we are Tennessee, and everyone else will be worse because of who they are', and unfortunately that's not how it works anymore in modern college football.

Blind Ambition. I don't post stuff off the top of my head. I'm basing everything on the Information available. Go back and read my reasons for the Optimism. SURE; most homers that don't know squat about Talent, Coaching, Rosters, Projections, FOOTBALL, ect will tout their team at every opportunity. I've listed REAL REASONS for this thread. Just watch the season unfold; then Hit me back at the end. I'll be waiting. BUT all the critics here will be MIA. lol
