Is the 2019 Version 20pts Better?

With the S&C improvements, the Influx of VERY Talented Freshmen on both sides of the ball, DEPTH, Pruitt settling in for his second year; Chaney, Ansley, and Tee upgrading the Staff, I can see Tennessee being 10 points better on D and Offense. (Possibly more midway through the season) This team is night and day from last year. I think we are looking at 8-4; minimum.

I like your optimism. And as I have stated before, I believe 8-4 is not only a reasonable expectation, but if Pruitt has a future as a head coach, that should be his expectation for year 2. Forget the "he needs 5 years" nonsense. It is no longer unheard of for freshmen to make an impact, and the right staff and the S&C program should make impact players of those Pruitt inherited. If Fulmer made the right choice and gave him the resources to succeed and with the lightest schedule we have had in years? 8 regular season wins this year, not next, will rightfully erase the doubts.

Fulmer might be telling the truth, or he might be acting as an AD seeing low ticket sales and is trying to fire the fan base up to buy.
That’s fair to say but I think Fulmer and Pruitt are brutally honest. IMO a big win over BYU will do more to fire the fans up.

Ha.
Your argument is a straw man, and thus illogical. To say we win 7 games this year shows no progress is ridiculous by any measure. Sure the schedule falls in our favor this year, but to say a 2 win improvement shows no improvement, and then accuse me of not knowing logical reasoning...

Oh, and I have a Master's degree in Math.
Don't really care. If you can't follow my point and understand the point... paper won't fix what's wrong.

I want to see us handle Vandy and KY the way we used to.

I've been a Vol fan for fifty years. and I've seen a lot of games. "Handling" Vandy and KY often consisted of close games, even coming from behind in the final minutes of Q4. Yeah, the good guys almost always won, but those two teams played their hardest against UT, and they were usually in the game.

UF is 7 in the AP and 8 in the Coaches. A&M is 16 in the AP and 11 in the Coaches.

We'll see how it shakes out. Lsu and Bama are legitimate Title contenders, and IF A&M upsets Clemson, put them in there too. Ga is the only contender in the East. Florida will lose 3 games.

I don’t disagree at all with your conclusion that FL could very likely underperform, just your post said that the West has 3 teams in the preseason Top 10 (Bama, LSU, and A&M) and the East only has 1 in the preseason Top 10 (UGA).

If that o line doesn't improve, this year will be the same as last. When I say improve, I mean go from about a 3 to a 7 or 8. They need a huge jump this year.

Well It's actually 2 and 2 with Bama, Ga, LSU and Uf. I think A&M is better than Florida, but has the Most Difficult Schedule in the COUNTRY. Hoping LSU handles UF, and TENNESSEE Does Too! Ga should whip 'em, giving them 3 losses! Fla will cruise by Miami -----IMO. Fla at Mizzou won't be easy either. GO VOLS!

I did. And even if we improve by 20, we would have still lost to the big 4 last year.
GOTCHA MOMENT!!! Lost to Fla by 26,, Lost to GA by 24, Lost to bama by 37, Lost to Mizzy by 33. NOW Can You Compute?

Thanks a million for the reminder of our recent success, outstanding.

I ran into K'Rojhn Calbert back in the spring. When I asked how things were looking for the fall, his response was, "We will make a bowl game." I think he's right... While 8-4 would be fantastic, I think 6-6 is worst case. I am thinking we'll end up 7-5.

We shall see. If this team isn't 20 points better ; I'll kiss whatever and give you a week to advertise. If you can't see the potential; I have no words.
20 points a game better??? Not seeing that. Yes, we have a lot of talent coming in, and a great freshman class, but they are freshmen, and the SEC schedule is a tough ask for a bunch of 18 year olds. How many teams have had 7-10 freshmen come into the SEC and just dominate in a single year? Basketball, sure...Football? Different story.

I agree all the pieces are coming together, but still believe we are a ‘next year’ 8-4 minimum team. Thinking perhaps 9-3 or 10-2 minimum for 2020. 6-6 and bowl game is minimum for 2019 with 7-5 likely and 8-4 is max (not min).

Just my $0.02

Because the East is just as hard the west is now. That was a whole different division back then. Much much weaker than now.

Last year Mizzou, Florida and UK were able to defeat Big 10 division winning caliber teams. Candy should have beat Notre Dame.
UGA probably should be 2 time national champs, but keep wetting the bed. They're still that good though.
lol that's a bit of a reach. After losing Chubb and Michel along with their front 7 there was no way they'd get passed OU or Clemson in the playoff. UGA was supposed to take a step back in 2018 and did. I was surprised that Fromm held off Fields. Will be interesting to see if Fields lives up to the hype at OSU.

Georgia will get Past Okla. I think they are on par with Clemson and Bama. They just haven't been able to beat bama; yet. I don't think Dabo would be in their heads like Saban. And Maybe Kirby just can't get over that last hurdle. It has happened before.

The scary reality, is that even with a 10 point swing on offense and defense, using the 2018 performances as a metric, we'd still only go 6-6 given that in all but one game we lost by 25+ points.

Title says 20pts, first post says 10pts for d. Hows a d score 10 points?
Not trying to bash the hype cause there is certainly some potential with the team, but what your asking cant really be proven. Every game and season is different. Are you asking if the team will score 20 ppg more than last year, on average?
