Shannon wasn't close due to a couple of reasons, the main one being that he was HC at Miami while a bunch of stuff went down and we had just been thoroughly investigated by the NCAA. We couldn't go after a DC that may have penalties coming of any sort at that time.
Dooley wanted Steele. Clemson gave up a ton of points, and Hart nixed it. Sunseri is Hart's man, but Dooley didn't put up any resistance, so it was a mutual decision.

Surely, we aren't going on the word of Hyams. Come on Volnation we are better than that
Seemed like Skeeter tells the story differently. That Sunseri was Hart's guy.
From what I have seen and heard - if skeeter says it's so ... it's so. Like taking it to the bank.
It is also very, very unusual to have a proven DC leave and replace them with an unproven linebacker coach. The only common connection is Hart - plus Hart would have to either have been the force behind hiring CSS or else he would have had to endorsed it.
-- just connect the dots.
Was the deciding factor on hiring Sunseri? Jimmy Hyams said this morning that Dooley had a verbal agreement with Kevin Steele and then Clemson's defense gave up 70 points in their bowl game. Hart apparently stepped in and was instrumental in Sunseri becoming our DC. If that's true, no wonder Hart is sitting back waiting on Dooley to implode after he loses one of these last 3 games.
This wouldn't shock me. I remember hearing how Randy Shannon was in the bag. Hopefully we can just fire Dooley and get it done with. Tired of that limping piece of crap wearing orange.
true. I know someone, former UT player, that knows Shannon and he talked to him. He never heard from UT
Idk anything about the situation, but when The commentators said, during the bama game, the sal basically said he didn't know if he could game plan against Pitt in a bowl game, I thought he had no business coaching anywhere in the SEC
