Is Heupel incapable of seeing what needs to be done? Or is it something else?

I have been a huge Heupel defender. I really like him as a coach but that like is wearing thin now. I can handle giving up points and yards to UGA and Bama. They have tons of elite play makers. But giving up almost 300 yards and 21 points to a bottom feeder like UK?

Surely Heupel sees what needs to be done right? He HAS TO right? Or is he simply incapable of seeing it? I would have no issue with firing Banks at halftime and letting Inge call the defense the rest of the way. Would it be a disaster? Could it be much worse? If Heupel doesn’t get rid of Banks at seasons end then, and I cannot believe I am saying this, I want him gone.

This defensive performances are unacceptable and embarrassing.

You people are beyond help. He is doing the only thing he can do…game plan to win games with a lethal offense.

Your crowd thinks that it’s easy and some stroke with a magic wand can fix everything. I got news for you. No new players are walking through the door this season and it would be utterly asinine to fire an assistant with a 6-2 record and being in the hunt.

All they can do is continue coaching the players they have and game planning to score a lot of points.

The defense needs to be improved, but any coaching changes should be considered in the off season.

Anyone saying that Kirby has regressed over the past two seasons has mush for brains.

Kirby didn’t go to the playoff in 2023. He made the playoff in 2024 and is about to go back. But sure, that’s regression.

Your standard is that it is regression if a coach loses more than the previous season. Kirby meets your standard for regression.

It’s a stupid take, and I was calling it out. I thought my sarcasm was obvious, but shoulda considered the audience and used blue font.

Heupel going 10-2 and making the playoffs last year and going 10-2 and missing the playoffs this year is regressing. And that is the best case right now according to the Nostradamuses who think a 10-2 Tennessee has no shot to get in the playoff.

But go off king

That is your opinion, and I strongly disagree.

But…let’s hear your proposal on what should be done. Clean house? Fahr the entire staff?

Or do you just like to bitch and moan?

And BTW, I think we likely finish 9-3 and maybe 8-4. And I will still be firmly on board with keeping Heupel in any scenario. And I trust him to pick his staff way more than anyone on this place.

Heupel should 10000% take advantage of all these firings to go after coaches who can bring transfers with them.

I’ve been adamant for 2 seasons that Heupel needs to overhaul his OC position with an actual quality play caller.

I’m still in on Banks being here but okay if he decides to shake it up.

But I’m resigned to the fact he refuses to fire coaches because he still has PTSD from getting fired by Stoops. He’s never once fired an assistant in his 8 years. That’s an issue because it hasn’t been 8 years of sunshine and rainbows.

I think Heupel is too involved in the offense to fire Halzle. They are like co OCs. Not a lot of big name OCs want that.

My dream scenario is he does what Ryan Day did to get over the hump. He went out and hired a former head coach with offensive experience to be his OC. The added benefit of game management decision making experience is just icing on the cake.

Your last paragraph is just ridiculous. You have zero idea of his mindset. Zero. Zilch. Nada. And his playing and coaching history strongly refute your claim.

And the offense is absolutely flying. You still want to fire the OC?

And, yes, the defense is struggling and shouod be addressed after the season. But an objective look at coaching AND playing personnel have to be considered. Not just a knee jerk “fahr the coaches” crap.

This is how an effective managed and leader goes about their business. Quite different than the immature knee jerking by the crowd on here.

Final question…if Heupel goes 10-2 and gets in the playoff, I’m guessing that is still unacceptable regression?

Josh Heupel has never fired a coach and it is widely known he is still warped from Stoops firing him and making him be the scapegoat for a down year unfairly.

I’ve been on on the most vocal objective defenders of Banks so stop with the dumb “knee jerk” accusations here.

This is not some conspiracy. But go off King and still be foolish.

You have to be not all there upstairs if you think 10-2 and making the playoff this year is regression.

Lay off the booze
