Is Dobbs the best SEC QB in 2016?

UGA's passing defense was good this year and Josh threw for 312 yards completing 25 passes with 42 attempts. He threw 3 touch downs and 1 int. When we have to we can pass the ball. The UGA game and last years SC game he made some big time throws under pressure. I'm glad he's on our team.

Agree with all of this. Just wish Jones didn't take the position of only throwing it when "we have to". I think Dobbs is good enough to do more in the passing game when they let him, which isn't very often. And while I understand leaning somewhat heavily on the running game because of Josh, Jalen and Alvin, I think we could be a more productive, dynamic offense if they'd mix in the pass, especially the routes that Josh throws well, more often.

Excellent post KB :good!:

After watching the video there are some things that clearly stand out. One, a great OL that gave Tee all day to sit back and throw. I know you downplay the importance of a great OL but the fact is OL make a difference in the pass game. Secondly, stud WR that consistently beat coverage, got open and catch passes.

Oh and I dont know how I forgot this one, Martin threw little to no deep balls in that game. He threw short passes for the majority of the game. Mostly screen passes and dink and dunk. Dobbs has made the same kind of throws that Tee made in that video this season. One of the biggest difference between the two is Dobbs has been under pressure A LOT more than Martin ever thought about.

I never downplayed the importance of an OL, I simply pointed out that there are numerous examples of Dobbs being inaccurate with absolutely no pressure and they aren't the primary reason for his inaccurate throws. Does pressure influence it, absolutely, be there are tons of examples when he isn't pressured and throws it in the dirt. Therefore I don't subscribe to the theory that the OL is his only problem.

Regarding Tee, I counted 8 passes that were screens our throws to the sideline out of out 23 attempts. He actually only threw 3 of the first 17 that were short. He also had a lot that were down the field. Not sure your definition of a deep ball, but there definitely not any bombs. But there were a ton of 15-30 yard passes.

Nevertheless, that wasn't the point. To say he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn is simply not true.

Lol at this thread. Yeah dobbs will be the best quarterback in the SEC if he throws better, doesn't fumble the ball every game, has a deep ball that's within 10 yards of the receiver, beats a ranked team, has over 100 yards passing. Face it guys. Dobbs is a middle of the pack sec quarterback. And for D4H, saying dobbs is the best quarterback since Peyton is so foolish it isn't even funny.

What he said is a bit foolish, but all these exaggerations you just said are very foolish as well. He is the best quarterback since Eric Ainge. Bray had great arm talent, but when you don't have a winning season as a quarterback you're simply not getting the job done. Dobbs as a starter has led us very well. Great leader, great athlete, good overall QB, above average passer. It is ridiculous how you and others bash Dobbs, because he is a good Quarterback and next year will be the proof. Just wait because next year will be special, whether you believe Dobbs can do it or not.

Dobbs = Brandon Harris

No offense... but that is a completely idiotic post. Brandon Harris is nowhere near the quarterback Josh Dobbs is. Just look how good Tennessee's offense is with Dobbs compared to Florida with Harris leading the way.

Well your post isn't much better because Treon Harris plays for Florida and Brandon plays for LSU. :)

Nowhere close. God you just hate Josh Dobbs don't you? It's really ridiculous how blind you are to the talent he really has. No he's not close to manning, but he is a good quarterback!

Yeah I agree with you. if LSU had Dobbs, I don't think Miles would have come so close to being fired. Dobbs, Fournette and Dupree would be FILTHY.

You were referencing to treon Harris. Not Brandon Harris. Go look at the stats. Very similar.

Just wondering but did you see the defense when bray played?? We had to put atleast 60 points on the board every game to win.

Dobbs = Brandon Harris

At first, I thought that was nuts. But I think there's some truth to that. Early in the year, Harris wasn't bad at all, then his season detailed with everything else at LSU.

Yeah i do remember that, but I also remember every silly decision that kid made. Very immature and very inconsistent. Losses to Vanderbilt and Kentucky where he couldn't even complete 50% of his passes. A Florida game where he looked high in the second half. (Wouldnt surprise me if he was) constantly choking under pressure as well. Dobbs is much better than Bray not because of arm strength, but because of leadership and dual threat ability. And yes Brandon harris comparison is a bit better of a compatison, but if LSU had Dobbs theyd had a better year. Dobbs is a better passer than Harris.

That's cause I am. But like most genuises, we get ridiculed for our precocious predictions before being celebrated after we're proven right.

Don't forget. I'll be here next year to accept your apologies.

You have got to have another account. Who else would like this but you....

does it matter if we think he's the best QB or the media votes him the # 1 returning QB if we lose to FL gain?
no. i don't care about the pre season hype and prognostication. earn it. beat FL.

Yeah because you know that football isn't a team sport that relies on more than one person or anything.
