Is Auburn really that much better than last season?

not seeing too much congratulating going on here............shouldnt the Vol fans be congratulating the auburn few who were bold enough to be here and take the tenn predictions of a big win?

Sounds like they are doing a pretty good job of congratulating themselves.

Ok, this is funny. The barn animals have come to gloat.

Barn animals? See, this is what's humorous. Most of the Auburn fans that came on here actually BEGAN civil conversation, or at least attempted to, about the upcoming game. I have quite a few posts that were actually discussing what Tennessee might do to win the game.

Our offense and our schedule and our coaches were quickly dismissed, disrespected, and mocked. Of course we began trying to defend all of those things, but to no avail (which I understand, this is a Tennessee board).

And back on Friday we were actually invited to come back on Sunday and take our verbal beatings after we shamefully were run out of Neyland. So just because we actually won, we can't come back to see if anyone is man enough to say something as simple as "well, I guess we were wrong, your offense isn't so bad and you have a decent team"?

But nope, no one can admit anything like that, you have to go with "barn animals" and other "classy" ways to represent Tennessee. (by the way, I was born and raised in Atlanta, and I always find it so humorous when people from UT or Alabama try to put down Auburn, like everyone from Tennessee and north Alabama is so cultured and affluent...what a freaking joke  ).

Not here to gloat, just here to see the reaction, gather more evidence that supports what I learned last week about most you guys....that you're nothing other than Alabama fans dressed in an uglier color. No class, some kind of strange superiority complex, and ignorant to the bitter end.

Anyway, in spite of the childish name calling and the lack of being able to admit when your team was simply beat on the field, I still respect your program, your tradition, your history, etc.

Most of you fans....not so much.

I knew this kind of garbage was coming! I was one of the many that came here to discuss the upcoming game and really got into how informative this board was...I hate that just because some hate Auburn for no good reason and others are so jaded by this season (as if we haven't been through our fair share just like it) that some think we are just coming here to gloat..I hope you guys upset UGA Saturday and get the ball rolling towards being bowl eligible...I respect most all of you guys..One of your mods (I think) was sadly the only one that went out of his way to be nasty/overly personal in his attacks on Auburn people last week...Hopefully the good ones of you, which there are many, will overshadow the few tools...This site will continue to get a lot of hits from me.

I'm pretty sure the barn animals gloating comment was directed at the barn animal's (Auburn fan's) post below yours who was clearly gloating and not so much your own. Now that said I do give Auburn a lot credit and think they do have a much improved team from last year. I hope you guys have a great year and beat Bama. You shouldn't judge the UT fanbase from a few posts before a big game. Its SEC football, a little trash talking is to be expected.

You are correct and he was gloating too much considering he is on a site called "volnation"...point taken!

Couple of interesting quotes here:

1. Gene Chizik and Auburn, particularly Gus Malzahn, have blown Tennessee's highest paid coaching staff in the country out of the water this season in terms of performance.

Kiffin defenders scream, "Talent, talent, talent."

That's all well and good, but does anyone really think Auburn has more talent than Tennessee? Last year's Tennessee-Auburn game ended 14-12 and set back offensive football five decades. Now compare the two teams this year. Which looks different, which looks improved?

That's almost entirely a product of coaching, right?

In fact, this game was almost a perfect laboratory for coaching analysis. Compare the products on the field last night. Kiffin, who was supposedly an offensive guru at USC, has not improved Tennessee's offense. Chizik, under the direction of Gus Malzahn, has completely remade Auburn. They're now 5-0, loving football, and have completely bought in to what the coaching staff is selling.

Meanwhile, Kiffin and Tennessee are regressing offensively and defensively.

Sorry, to interrupt the convesation you are having with yourself, but to visit a team's board after your victory and bumping this thread is gloating.

well...from the way you acted toward a non aggressive opponent before the game..........I dont really blame them for wanting to gloat............if that is what you call it

I didn't have any conversation with them before the game.

No gloating here... Of course I'm pleased that AU won but, if you go back and read my posts prior to the game, I stated that I thought it would be a tough, physical, close, typical SEC match-up... UT played a hell of a good game and will still have some good wins this year - hopefully starting this week against UGA...

Did you miss the part where some of the Vol jackasses from last week INVITED us to come back after the game. I was coming back win or lose.

I named quite a few ways I thought UT might win the game. Had they happened, I was coming back to say "I thought maybe that would happen".

I basically came back to see if any of the loud mouth clowns that touted "your offense is fluff" and crap like that would have anything to say....simple stuff like "guess you aren't too bad after all (459 yards)".

As for those who are just catching this on pages 13-15, go back and read...most attempts to discuss from the very beginning were quickly turned into things related to our schedule, our "high school" coach, and something related to cow turds, barns, and farm animals.

Did I expect Vol fans to chime in with "you are better than us and will win on Saturday", well of course not. But I did expect to find more people who actually wanted to discuss the game, and not hurl insults and "you suck" with nothing to back anything up other than the color orange they're wearing.

okay jadennis, based on what I've seen the past five weeks AU's team is better than Ohio and Western KY and not quite as good as UCLA. Happy?

Sure, happy. Your in-depth analysis has me convinced.

By the way, I wasn't really interested in where we rank in the teams you've played. I was curious to know if anyone's mind had changed about what they thought of us going into the game verses their thoughts coming out of the game.

AUB will likely be 7-0 in a couple of weeks, after expected W's over Ark and UK. Then anything can happen down the streach. BCS?

Ark will be a tough game I think. I certainly do not expect an automatic W. We will have to play a good game for all 4 quarters. Mallet is a monster, and could play like he did against the dawgs. Then Again he could play like he did against Bama if we can get some pressure on him.

Even IF we win in Arkansas we still have LSU, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Bama.

The BCS shouldn't even be a thought LOL! We will be DAAAAMN lucky to make it to an SEC Championship Game. I will be thrilled just to make it to an Iron Bowl undefeated.

On a side note, I have you guys picked to win over Georgia.

I've stayed out of alot of the pre-game threads, but I am assuming that alot of posters thought that UTK would beat AU. I can assure you that some/many of us did not assume that the Vols' anemic offense would roll over a team that stomped Miss State and beat WVa by double digits.

Auburn is looking pretty good to me. No, it's not an Auburn defense of old, but the Tigers are 100 percent improved on offense. Malzahn is a great offensive-minded coach.

Won't be too long until the Tigers are back in contention in the SEC West. Don't think it will turn out to be the case this season, but they are definitely on the right path.

Hard to argue with 5-0 record and No. 17 ranking considering they have an entirely new coaching staff. The tougher part of their schedule certainly lies ahead.

I hope you're right, but if our defensive line can't get pressure on Mallett with our front four, we'll have to score 50 to win. Of course, we may score 50, their defense isn't very good. But at the same time, I figure they are probably getting better after facing Georgia, Alabama, and even Texas A&M who had been racking up big yards prior to that game.

I'll also say I'm glad the Kentucky game is at home, they are a decent team and gave Alabama fits in the first quarter.

What's funny is that the wins over Miss State and WVU were the reasons they gave for thinking Auburn had no chance and that our offense was "fluff".

If Crompton can manage to be at least adequate for 2 or 3 quarters, and good for at least 1 quarter, Tennessee can hang with and beat anyone. If he can throw, then you can run when you want to run (ie, running down and distances), and the defense is stout.

It just sucks when your whole teams chances hinge on that one guy...Crompton.

I think that is a fair assessment.

I'm predicting Arky to win. I have nothing against your team but I'm still not sold on Auburn. You did give up a lot of points to a bad football team this past weekend. WV outplayed you but, to Auburn's credit, you team has heart and found a way to win. Nevertheless, you are in the stacked SECW and I just don't see you beating Ole Miss, Arky, LSU, and Bama.
