Iran

I've said before and Ill say it again. The WORLD was stupid for allowing basically a zero contingency strategy to exist and not do anything about it. The west has been hostage to the threat of closing the straights for decades and done NOTHING about it. What did Rockefeller do when the rail road refused to carry his oil??? He built a pipeline and went around. It's time for a permanent fix.
Of course it wasn't closed until we preemptively attacked Iran. Since we bombed them last summer too, don't you think that maybe we should have had a contingency plan prior to this attack? It's amateur hour for this administration in the manner in which they do everything

It should have been done 50 years ago.
Yes, but at the same time, easy to say right now if you are behind Trump's chaotic, poorly planned attempt to change things. We have been relatively clear of dedicated and direct military presence in Western Asia, way beyond our normal operations there, for about 5 years until Trump. Yeah, we exercised our unmatched military upon them with a Stealth bombing run last summer. Ooooooh!😉

It was a perfect opportunity for Trump, entering his 2nd term, to affect positive change in the region diplomatically. Since he has no understanding of how to do that, we get "they say death to America", and, "we have been at war with them for 47 years".😆

Hey, let's show off our military. I want to stick my chest out. There aren't going to be any adverse, strategic consequences

They sure dont mind advertising their plans. They are adamant on keeping the fuel though. If they dont want nukes, then shouldnt an agreement to share uranium for a power plant be feasible?

At the beginning of the negotiations we offered to supply for free enriched uranium for their nuclear power plants on a long-term basis but they rejected that offer. They are in pursuit of a nuclear weapon.

Well, they haven't had any restrictions since the first Trump term. Since he tore up the agreement which, at least slowed progression, they have been on unfiltered quest for complete enrichment since.

I will agree they are not handling this well but let’s not pretend Obama or Biden or any other President has handled it well either.

I’m not going back and look but were you as critical of Biden’s way he left Afghan? If so, your point has merit. If not, you’re partisan.

I personally don’t know a single president in my lifetime who hasn’t botched that area when entering it.

The fact that Trump and others have expressed surprise at Iran's closing of the strait is downright mystifying. Literally every commentator to opine on this in the last 15 years has begun their discussion with "and then Iran will close the Strait of Hormuz...."

Will not disagree but were you critical of Obama when he unfroze their funds?

I am thoroughly pissed right now and if we do give them a dime I am done voting period probably.
