Iran

Agreed. I’m open to unfreezing funds for them, but only if they’re giving up nuclear ambitions.
And why should Iran give it up? What's their motivation?

N Korea model shows Trump will love you and treat you with kid gloves if you have nukes.

And our "concerns" that Iran will actually nuke Israel? Hmmm... N Korea threatened us with "nuclear Holocaust" if we didn't leave them be so... We left them alone and hey look we're still here and they haven't blown us up yet!

MAD is alive and well.

People try to sensationalize the Iranian leadership as being irrational and batshit crazy religious zealots. In reality they recognize that if they actually had the bomb and used it on Israel they would face the same fate and have their country turn to glass by Israeli nukes.

Here are some notable quotes by Donald Trump complimenting Kim Jong Un or speaking positively about North Korea *after* they developed the bomb:

* “He is very talented.” — Trump said this after the 2018 Singapore summit, referring to Kim taking power at a young age and maintaining control. ([CNBC][1])

* “Kim Jong Un … has been very honorable.” — Trump during summit preparations in 2018. ([Fortune][2])

* “He speaks and his people sit up at attention. I want my people to do the same.” — Trump on Fox & Friends in 2018, later saying he was joking. ([CBS News][3])

* “I did receive a beautiful letter from Kim Jong Un.” — Trump discussing correspondence from Kim in 2019. ([Reddit][4])

* “North Korea has tremendous potential.” — Trump repeatedly described the country’s economic potential under Kim’s leadership. ([Reddit][5])

* “He really loves his country very much.” — Trump after meeting Kim in Singapore. ([CNBC][1])

* “I, for one, am glad to see he is back, and well!” — Trump reacting to Kim reappearing publicly after health rumors in 2020. ([Reddit][6])

Trump also sometimes mixed compliments with criticism, previously calling Kim a “madman” and “Little Rocket Man” before diplomatic talks began. ([factcheck.org][7])

Weird because when this war started they immediately bombed every country around them.

Everybody knows that mutually assured destruction has been one of the greatest mechanisms for peace between two enemy nations in world history, but this time it won't work, and we have to wreck ourselves to prevent us from ever getting there.

End the blockade helps *us* too, so the question is who can last longer at status quo... Iran or Trump?

My money is on Iran.

Seems you disagree on MAD. Answer this: Why hasn't Russia nuked Ukraine?

This blockade harms Iran far more than us. We will see how long they can hold out.

Are you talking about MAD the poster? For one Russia wants the land in Ukraine. Why would you want land that has been nuked?

The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action included a substantial international oversight and verification regime, primarily carried out by the International Atomic Energy Agency.

The agreement did not create completely unrestricted “anytime, anywhere” inspections, but it did establish unusually intrusive monitoring measures, including:

Continuous monitoring of key nuclear facilities
Regular on-site inspections by IAEA inspectors
Electronic surveillance and enrichment monitors
Environmental sampling
Tracking of uranium stockpiles and centrifuges
Expanded access under Iran’s implementation of the Additional Protocol
A dispute-resolution mechanism that could compel access to suspicious undeclared sites within a set timeframe

The IAEA repeatedly stated during the main implementation period (2016–2018) that it was able to access the sites it needed and verify Iran’s compliance with nuclear-related commitments.
How does anyone know there haven’t been other sites constructed to conceal certain materials away from the sites known to the IAEA? Not saying there are, but I don’t put anything past Iran, or any other govt for that matter. We simply do not know 100%, or better yet, what we don’t know.

Trump has major political concerns. If the **** doesn’t get fixed prior to the midterm elections, he will doom the entire Republican Party for sure and consequently lose power in the house at a minimum. Which would make him a lame duck.

And that’s a good point regarding Ukraine

From my perspective they were doomed on freedom day or whatever he called his horrible tariff policy. Follow that with ice and then all the annoying retaliatory nonsense and it’s all a bad combination. I could be mistaken, but I don’t see this as near the top of most Americans agenda. As long as it’s mainly a blockade, it’s not a major political issue the way American deaths in Vietnam were
