Iran

It's nice in theory to say that you don't support the war but you hope things work out for the Iranian people to be free of the regime.

In reality, the two cannot be true, and you admit no realistic alternative solution.

Therefore, opposing the war but supporting the people, is no difference from supporting the IRGC’s mass murder of their citizens. your internal beliefs doesn’t exclude you from blame or guilt.
I have no power, I am guilty or to blame for nothing here. My interests surely aren't being upheld

why can't the two be true?

we saw the iranians rise up on their own a couple months ago. they didn't need our war to do it.

also I don't know how you jump to the bolded assumption. that assumption ONLY makes sense if the IRGC was ONLY mass murdering in response to the war. which isn't the case.

its possible to hope for a positive change in someone's else's life, without being the source of that change yourself. thats like saying you don't really want your friend to get over cancer because you aren't funding the research or the medical costs, it makes no sense.

you are also falling into the fallacy of believing that whatever comes out of our war will be better for the Iranian people. based on history it is entirely likely we will replace one regime with a worse one.

As I said, it took our ancestors several generations to assimilate yet you're holding others to a different set of guidelines. Why would that be?

This is not true PJ, it doesn’t take generations. That’s what is so wonderful about our country.
As a first generation American I can tell you people either make the effort to assimilate or they don’t.

why should it only take one generation? there isn't anything in the Constitution requiring, or even suggesting that. The unique thing about America is our Constitution. English isn't unique to the US, its even in the name ENGLISH not AMERICAN. What is our culture but how society has evolved out of our unique Constitution. as long as they are following our Constitution they are more than American "enough".

you and your purity laws are more unAmerican than speaking a native tongue.

Why should America ever allow anyone into this Country that doesn't make an effort to assimilate? It's like raising an Orphan child that benefits from having a new home and doesn't want to be part of the family.

Except it did take that long not so many years ago for Irish, Italian, Chinese, etc. You're simply ignoring all the data that shows what happened. You do that very often

freedom.

sorry that offends you. like I said you are more unAmerican than those you want out of this country.

The problem is that your idea of assimilation probably looks a lot different from mine.

You can't measure things subjectively.

I was born into freedom. There is a difference between someone that is born in a Country and someone that wants to enter the country.
You can label me whatever you want, I don't mind whatever you decide to call me or label me.
If you want the benefits of the freedom America has, you need to learn how to assimilate with the residents of that country,

If you wanted to join the Spanish Club to take advantage of Taco Tuesday lunches at school; you would be required to participate and make an effort to learn "Spanish and Spanish Culture"..
Go defend foreigners to someone else. I'm all for people that want to be here for a better life and have an interest in becoming American..
I'm strongly against Voter Block Communities that are a leech on our society.

well, I am sorry that you hate America and everything it stands for.

I am going to let you onto a little secret, we aren't high school spanish club. we have a Constitution that sets our laws, and yes that includes rights for foreigners in our country.

we aren't supposed to all look the same, act the same, dress the same, talk the same, pray the same. We have multiple clauses and amendments in our Constitution that spell this out. 1st amendment is the easiest to the point to. but even the 2A isn't a requirement that ALL Americans MUST own a gun. it says the government can't stop us from owning guns. Our nation is different because it allows for that freedom of differences. what makes us special is that we ALLOW differences, other countries don't. If you want North Korean level purity laws I suggest you move to North Korea.

Both misguided and anti-American

We have many laws from the Constitution that are only relevant when you want to use them as a feel good point bud.
You're wasting your time trying to look holier than thou with me on this.
I have family that help with ESL classes for Hispanics/Hattians to learn English as a second language.
I also know 10x's more examples of people that can care less about being here or being a positive influence on the community.
We are used as a safe haven that provides a luxury lifestyle compared to where most of these immigrants come from.
The minimum we should expect is assimilation to the American Culture. Not that they give up their culture; but learn to adapt to America and how to be a net positive instead of net negative.

"The Pentagon is sending three warships and thousands of additional Marines to the Middle East, in the second deployment of Marines to the region in the past week. Roughly 2,200 to 2,500 Marines from the California-based USS Boxer amphibious ready group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are heading to the U.S. Central Command, U.S. officials said."

Contrast this with what trump said yesterday: “No, I’m not putting troops anywhere,” Trump said at the White House when asked whether he intends to send more service members to the Middle East.

Are our Marines going to be sitting on a boat in dangerous waters or is trump more senile than Biden?
