Having grown up a Navy brat, I feel for anyone who may have family in the military deployed to that part of the world. I remember that worry. Thoughts and prayers to them. And to all our military.

I think those positions and appointments coincide with just normal employment say. Someone may be really good over here, or at this level but not so much cut out for that over there. Vance is kind of that way to me. Plus he has the misfortune of being VP. The one job that can destroy a career head on regardless of who the boss is. Got nothing against Vance. I think he's actually quite bright. Not Rubio level but more than suitable. He's in a no win situation. As was Pence. Who was very capable, and a stand up guy in a world they do not exist.

not very unprecedented. we have a whole thread dedicated to the Navy not being ready for war. One of our carriers the toilets don't even work.

somewhat ironically fire is a ships biggest enemy. not just because of all the flammable stuff crammed in a small space, but because smoke in that small space is DEVESTATING.

also this is a good reminder to clean out your dryer vents at home.

Like I said before, it's not just our Navy that isn't ready, it's our Air Force, our Marines, and our Army. The equipment our military procures seems high-tech and cool on the Military Channel, but when put to field we have an incredible failure rate for so much that gets sent out.

Going to war with Iran with the way we are structured is going to end up costing so many lives, unless Trump nuts up and backs away.
