Iran

The cost of war should be shoved in our faces until we demand that Congress does it job and actually declare war. This executive overreach has to stop
If it was left to Congress then there currently wouldn't be a South Korea and there also wouldn't be a Kuwait. There would probably be Russian nukes in Cuba.
Gaddafi or his successor would still be in Libya, Hussain or one of his crazy sons would be leading Iraq and joining Iran.

There is a reason the President of the United States is called the Commander in Chief and not the United States Congress.

It's not their job to root against it either

Personally I think all Americans should root for a quick military success over there. I get why Aljazeera would root against American success
The idea that reporting on casualties is "rooting against America" is so monumentally stupid

The truth is we can’t know for sure. You’re telling me the same government that slaughtered 30k of its own citizens, wouldn’t strike its own school with a missile they “don’t operate” to garner support from the citizens? Who’s to say what they can operate and can’t operate? Especially when their country is being bombarded
I'm convinced some our resident libs who suffer from TDS believe that Iran is the good guys in all of this.

Paging @n_huffhines. Clusterbombs in the Middle East! Where is the outrage????
Clusterbombs are an evil concept but for us to complain about anyone using them would be hypocritical.
Why no mention of Israel's use of white phosphorus in Lebanon?

No it does not end the discussion for me. The $$$'s are flowed back to US companies producing the material. Weapons are used for their security and they are our partner in fighting terrorism in the region.

There are talks of a 20 year partnership agreement when this one expires and hopefully it is implemented.
So taxpayer funded jobs are good?

Not accurate, since Congress went along with all that. Truman didn't even ask for a declaration of war in Korea.
If you think us playing kingmaker in Iraq and Libya worked out well then that's on you.
A Hussein led Iraq was never teaming with Iran against us.

And you really think Iran won't be able to lay mines if it so chooses?

Your gobsmacked idolization of our military is laughable.

They tried. They lost 26 boats in doing so. Did they lay a handful of mines? Possibly.

How many days in a row can they afford to lose 26 boats?

Your belief in the Iranian military is fully delusional and in no way based in reality

Reality: Iran doesn’t have a small set of dedicated minelayer ships, instead it uses many small boats and submarines capable of laying mines. The US claims it sunk 16 yesterday not 26.

Of note, 3 oil tankers were hit by *something* yesterday, and the flow of oil remains at a virtual standstill. We have not "unblocked" the Strait of Hormuz and, again, I don't see it being easy for us to do.

That’s my fault. I saw the 10 and the 16 figures and combined them. Seems the 10 were a subset of the 16.

Either way, how long can they afford to do so?

I’ve not seen that. I saw attacks by drones 3-7 an 3-8 that did minimal damage and resulted in no loss of life. What’s your source on the 3 tankers?
