As of last night they had committed to doing it but had not agreed to a time table. My guess is they want to soften that shoreline up a bit first.I was under the impression that the U.S. Navy was going to escort all the shiping. That would pretty much eliminate the threats from missiles and drones.
just as a reminder, it works in Israel because it is tiny. and we fund it. Israel would be the 48th biggest stateIt's like Star Wars, knocking missiles out of the sky above your head. Daily Mail reporter who saw the Iron Dome in action tells why Israelis seem so unflappable amid Iran war
It's like Star Wars, knocking missiles out of the sky right above your head.
I'd been to Israel before, but it wasn't until covering its war with Hamas that I understood what the Iron Dome means to the country.
Within days of arriving at work as a news correspondent in January 2024, I was at a bus stop in southeastern Tel Aviv during rush hour, surrounded by students with their backpacks, old women with their shopping bags and soldiers with rifles - all waiting for the same bus.
As I stood there, intrigued by this uniquely Israeli scene, a shrill, oscillating howl started blaring all around us. It took me a few seconds to realize it was a 'Red Alert,' Israel's missile warning siren.
Everyone started running.
Some took cover under nearby trees. Others shielded themselves next to a concrete wall. Still others, including little kids and uniformed soldiers, ran up a small hill behind us for a clearer view of the sky.
I followed them, naively reaching for my notebook and pen in hopes of snagging a quick interview before whatever happened next. But there was no time.
Within about 45 seconds of when the sirens started, we could hear Hamas rockets that had been fired from Gaza zooming northward through the late-afternoon sky.

Civilians around me took cover while some ran up the hill to see the interception - within seconds, I could hear the missiles from Gaza (PICTURED: Civilians taking cover from an Iranian airstrike on February 28)

with how small the straight is, they don't need to. they could push sea mines into the straight and just let them float around as a huge deterrent. yeah it would be random, and probably bite them in the butt, but considering their current lack of navy its not the worst idea in the world.Iran no longer has a navy to blockade with.
I cant figure out how tiny little drones are so destructive, like even to tanks. Warheads cant be very big. They somehow take out tanks, but dont have alot of speed for kinetic energy like an RPG, Maybe they use a blast to expel a pentrator.
I would wager we take some drone hits on escorts at some point..just about impossible to be 100% effective.
If I wasn't so jolly, I'd be hurt by your post. For those that dont know, they create a gas pocket which lifts ship out of the water, or displaces the water, and breaks the hull.
Kinda like giving McDad a piggy back ride..something gonna break.

they wouldn't use the Aegis system at that range. the Phalanx or whatever the sea version is would kick in. BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT no more missile. bullets are a lot cheaper and plentiful than missiles.Ships… big ships that is are likely the least important component of Iran‘s ability to block the Strait. They have a bunch of other assets, including missiles that could be launched at basically point blank range. Whether or not our destroyers AEGIS systems could successfully defend the ship would be a big question. Theoretically, if they launch enough of these missile simultaneously, it could overwhelm any of our systems.
And for what it’s worth, again, I’m not sure it would actually work, but Iran is infamous for its mosquito fleet of fast speed boats that theoretically could cause problems for our larger vessels.
The military craft aside, normal oil tankers are absolutely sitting ducks through the Strait right now, based on my reads.
People severely underestimate how inexpensive, yet extremely destructive, terrorism can be.with how small the straight is, they don't need to. they could push sea mines into the straight and just let them float around as a huge deterrent. yeah it would be random, and probably bite them in the butt, but considering their current lack of navy its not the worst idea in the world.
also the terrorists in Yemen didn't have all of the equipment Iran does and still effed with shipping in a much bigger area. "landlocked" nations can still eff with shipping, just ask Russia dealing with Ukraine.
Why does the Democratic Party's life depend on Israel?Newsom has gone full Mamdani.
He says the United States is being pushed by Israel into a position where it may “have to reconsider its military support,” and he’s now echoing the claim that Israel is an apartheid state.
The Democratic Party is dead.
Those planes are older than the band. and will be around for much longer delivering more hurt than anything else that flies.Hey they are a decent alternative rock band but I think they're a little too old to be useful in war

as much as I love the A10, I would throw it away to make sure we kept the B.U.F.F.s
although I will say its a bit of a waste to fill it up with smart tech. those effers were made to drop metric tons of dumb stuff in a "too whom it may concern" approach.
