Iran

I thought it wasn’t actually shut down? Just that they made the threat and then lost their navy

Edit: looked into the question and per Grok it is not being blockaded or anything by Iran but insurers have refused to insure shipments through the strait currently due to security concerns causing around 90% of shipping to cease in that area
Iran no longer has a navy to blockade with.

The fact that Lefties still post BS like "burying the Epstein files" on Twitter is just further proof that Liberalism is a symptom of mental illness. Anyone here can access tens of thousands of documents regarding Epstein. All of which the Biden admin hid for 4 years. All of which were released under orders from Trump. Its like believing that dogs purr, or cats bark. Like believing women can have penises and men can give birth. To be a Leftist and support the Dem "platform" in 2026 is to be mentally ill. By necessity. No sane person believes any of that BS.
Noted lefties Alex Jones and Nick Fuentes.

Ships… big ships that is are likely the least important component of Iran‘s ability to block the Strait. They have a bunch of other assets, including missiles that could be launched at basically point blank range. Whether or not our destroyers AEGIS systems could successfully defend the ship would be a big question. Theoretically, if they launch enough of these missile simultaneously, it could overwhelm any of our systems.

And for what it’s worth, again, I’m not sure it would actually work, but Iran is infamous for its mosquito fleet of fast speed boats that theoretically could cause problems for our larger vessels.

The military craft aside, normal oil tankers are absolutely sitting ducks through the Strait right now, based on my reads.

They don’t have enough missiles left to overwhelm anything.

It's not boats/ships they're concerned with. Evidently, Iran has a substantial battery of anti-ship missiles littered along the coast. Evidently, they're hidden very well in caves and underground bunkers. If they even succeeded in launching one against a defenseless freighter, it could be catastrophic.

For those that dont know, they create a gas pocket which lifts ship out of the water, or displaces the water, and breaks the hull.

Kinda like giving McDad a piggy back ride..something gonna break.

I didn't know that about torpedo's.

I was well aware of what can happen giving McDad a piggyback ride.

Time to carpet bomb the coasts with those B-52s. Wish we still had the Iowa battleships in commission. There isn’t anything that can take out a shore battery better than a 16 inch shell.

I was under the impression that the U.S. Navy was going to escort all the shiping. That would pretty much eliminate the threats from missiles and drones.

I cant figure out how tiny little drones are so destructive, like even to tanks. Warheads cant be very big. They somehow take out tanks, but dont have alot of speed for kinetic energy like an RPG, Maybe they use a blast to expel a pentrator.

I would wager we take some drone hits on escorts at some point..just about impossible to be 100% effective.
